Since boxing is way harder to become pro at and make a living, I would say MMA.
rofl how am I racist. Most boxers are black and uneducated, most NFL players are black and have college degrees. Where's the racism?
How many boxers do you know with college degrees? Wlad, who else lol? Now lets compare that to other sports. NFL, almost all players have completed 4 years of college, majority of NBA players have completed 4 years of college or atleast 1-2 years. Most american born NHL players have completed college.
Don't kid yourself.
Just go play some James Toney videos and you'll see. He's the first american athlete I have ever seen needing subtitles because he can't speak english properly.
boxers fight for a belt and purseStraight kids = Boxing
Gay kids that have erotic fantasies of rubbing and grappling with other men = MMA
Sounds about right.
What does that have anything to do with this thread? We're discussing the youth's preferences. Not what current fighters prefer.
MMA might be more popular in the US at the moment but that doesn't necessarily reflect on what young kids want to be when they grow up.
Going back to what Xcutioner said, race/social class plays a big part in what kids aspire to be.
I remember watching this Christmas special last year where a large group of young, poor urban kids (primarily comprised of african americans and latinos) were paid a visit by Floyd Mayweather and the kids all jumped up and got excited as hell. Now if, instead of Floyd, Chuck Liddell or GSP or Brock had walked in, I doubt they would've been as excited.
Likewise, if it was a group of middle class, suburban kids (comprised of caucasians or asians), and Floyd walked in, they might not be as excited. But if it was Chuck, Brock, etc, they'd be more enthusiastic.
In fact, now that I think about it, I think many young kids (elementary school age) aspire to be professional wrestlers more than boxers or MMA fighters. Keep in mind that, at that impressionable age, seeing jacked wrestlers surrounded by adoring fans and wrestling divas in bras/thongs is more appealing to them than the other two (boxing/mma).
the ones that go on tuf are really fringe up and comers that with the right training can be polished in to a contender, fighters like cain will never be on that showIf TUF is any reflection of the next generation of MMA fighters then it's not saying much. The best will still come from 'one dimensional' backgrounds, mostly wrestling and wrestling is struggling to find funding in the US.
No college scholarships for boxing perhaps?rofl how am I racist. Most boxers are black and uneducated, most NFL players are black and have college degrees. Where's the racism?
Kids wanna be Brock Lesnar.
Theres a Boxing gym 2mins away from me and a lot of kids go there to train since it only cost 50p for an hours lesson, while there's an MMA gym literally 10mins walk away and they charge

yea, exactly, a video of little uneducated dumbasses cussing every other word and acting like complete tools, "fucking tight'. What a fucking joke.
