What does overtraining feel like

Signed up to a Gym. Trained today. I'm back. Skills are high feeling wise. Just spining shit hard to land on proper moving bag. But kicks are great on real bag barefoot. My left high is out of this world and effortless. I should knock someone out. Soon is sparring day, 10 rounds, let's see how I do. I still half way smoke cigs. Single cigs of the kiosk.

I'm gonna murk @maximus__ my left high is gonna decipate him. His head flying. Dead, he is dead.

But the mats are giving me fucking burns on my soles. Weird feeling. Shall pass.

Signs up to gym... does more heavy bag...

I meant a gym with a coach and training partners for kickboxing...

It´s a holiday today, no classes. Bag work >

I love bag work. It´s like running for soccer players.

Jus me an mah bag mate.

There´s kickboxing class 2 x daily and the Coach is a Champ actually. Like 28-5, 20 KOs in the pros.

Jokes aside good job man. 2x a week, no compromises.

Pick two days that you consistently go no matter how you feel.
It doesn't matter if your feet hurt, your cat died or it's too hot.
Those days are non-negotiable.

Move it to 3 in a month after being consistent.

Nah bro let´s go 2x a day. I mean unemployed, no kids, no financial obligations. How bout 2x a day ? I can take it cardio wise. Those random 2h workouts at my fitness gym got me ready. Sleep 9 hours. Eat good. Why not. Like Thailand, just here. Time for bed. I better shut my brain of imediately. There´s 6:45 hours between the classes. Let´s aim to catch both. It´s always 1:15 long classes. Gonna warm up lightly for 10 minutes. Let´s go. I mean 1:15 for a unemployed guy who sleep eats. Why not. Noon and late evening. Works perfect. Let´s just start.

I mean my heartrate was like 130-170 on my random bag workouts. Now that I got the heartrate watch it´s comical how I had spent rounds in the 150-170 heart rate. 1:15 shall be easy. Perks of being a unemployed bum as Contempt calls me. Just that he gotta pay mortage.

Wasn´t here in a long while. Old trainer always had us do 2-4 rounds of sparring for regular classes. Often just low kick, body shot ect sparring but also just regular. At the end when everyone is already tired. Tiring out people before sparring is good to minimize damage. Our old boxing trainer home had us do push ups, stair runs, triceps push ups, squats ect then spar. Hard to get hurt when everyone is lactated. I mean here low key they had a unofficial corner in the gym where the guys spar who go super super light, like just light touch. But it happened before some overmotivated young man tries to, well let´s say you know someone comes to win some sparring championship.

Trust me having actually trained multiple times a day for years and places like Thailand.

Start with 2x a week consistently on separate days. It allows you to recover, take on the technical skills you are learning and have 2 quality sessions a week.

Do that for 4 weeks or 8 total sessions and then add an extra session per week which gets you to 12 per month.

You start training 2x a day and you will quit. My version will lead to you training more overall and actually improving and making the adaptions to that training.

I still remember the day when I came and won 10 out of 10 sparring rounds. Thursday is sparring day. However MMA professionals got seperate classes. So on a spar day there will be a lot of people but a ton of them just training a bit for fun or light young guys who aren´t that strong. But also some real good ones. Last time I spared here I was out of shape, grasping for air and basically lost to 4 guys in a row. I mean you don´t win sparring but you obviously know yourself if you did well or you did bad. I mean in 10 rounds you won´t spar everyone, there´s plenty people. Also I def try to skip anyone who looks to go too hard.

we shall see. Tomorrow. Maybe 1:15 times two is doable. It´s just 2:30 hours of work. Consider a bit warm up before. I mean I can just do 1 session the next day, or rest. If it drains me out. 2 X a day can work but I gotta test it. I also wanna randomly build in gym lifting days. Play by ear. I don´t got schedules. Which in a way let´s me recover until I start working. I will try to start with work 1.9 again. Thailand is a crazy pace. They run before gym. In a way you got a chance to aclimate. But if you come in shape. They train like 5 hours a day or 6. This is literaly 1:15 a class. Not really breaks included. The gym is open I can keep hiting the bag or lift weights there. But let´s aim for 2 x classes tomorrow. I mean rest days are always aviable, I can just take a rest.

It also depends on you. You decide how hard you throw. During pads, combos. It´s on you to keep reserves. Some pace that makes sense.

Dude I have trained in both Thailand and other MMA gyms multiple times a day, 6 days a week.

Trust me, do 2 good sessions a week split with atleast a day of rest.

were you ever a pro fighter ? You said no. So why you trained 2-3 a day for years ?
Nope no pro fights. Because i like to train and help the active competitors.

I have a good paying job, why would I fight as a pro?

and you never went pro ?

What gym in Thailand have you visited.

Give me some Thailand tips. I might be crazy and hop on a plane to train there for a month. Like maybe now lol. If I can get a contract that says 1.9 work starts, why not do Thailand for 4 weeks. Give me some advice. Where did you train ? Tourist or traiditonal gyms ? What you think bout Buakaw village and Tiger Muay Thai ? What is a non infested area of Thailand without party tourists who are drunk and it´s crowded. Something nice chill. That gym Hagerty trains at looks cool. Also temperatures. I am not gonig there to be in 45 degrees. So now is maybe a bad time ?

by what logic is 2x a week any good ? You think I´m not in shape or don´t got work ethic ?

You mean 2 x kickboxing and 3 lifting ?

What is speaking against more. I mean burning out is real. But I monitor my energy. I know by now.

well you said many years multiple times a day. You mean you trained many years and some times multiple a day. Now I am gonna ask you what your job is and you won´t answer. You can DM me. I am just curious. I often chat with you and just out of innocent curiousity wanna know. You said you work shifts, I don´t know anything else bout your profession. Also are you in a big city or smaller in Australia. Also for no reason just chating.

I still train 2x a day 2-3x a week and usually train across 5-6 days total.
3 Strength, 4 skill, 2 conditioning on average or 9 total sessions a week is my usual workload.

I have done periods of 6 days a week 2-3 sessions daily.

The second session is always impacted by the first. When I double up the skill work it's a waste of time.
I would be better off doing an easier run. I really notice it when I do grappling and then do a strength session later that day.

I am not going to tell you my job or anything that identifies me further than I already have.

Interesting how you don't consider yourself "good" compared to pros when you trained so much for so long

I will catch people in my own good techniques, but there is a difference when you go 100% with the intention to hurt the other person.

I have that in me, I just don't want that to happen to me anymore. I got a family and kids, I am happy to just work with the guys that want to make a career out of it and "lose" rounds in the gym as a good training partner. I can still hang, I just can't do it day in and day out like they can anymore.
