My suggestion is to shorten your rounds and add more rest.
4 x 3. Kickboxing timer. Learn to pace for the whole duration. 3 + 1 extra round.
During your work period you:
1) Pick a stance and stick with it.
I disagree. I like switching. At one point begining of round 2 I think, I just did a little stance switch drill, throw the same strike from each stance one after other, switched after most strikes. Right jab left jab, upercut cross ect, also low mid high kick left than right. Switching stances improves technique. Nothing wrong with strictly staying in your own stance. It's fun more advanced. Easy getting bored on the bag. It's not a fight you can try out things.
2) Pick a combination and work that, and only that, for the round. Every round has a goal.
Great idea, I don't drill combos at all. I did do 4x2 after this. 1 only front kicks both legs, 2 only boxing but medium pace chain boxing - not my ocasional powershots and tiny combos, 3 just knees elbows, 4 freestyle.
3) During that work period go higher intensity. Medium tempo works neither speed nor power. Wear a HR monitor if you are worried you might die.
I do sometimes 5 x 1. 1 intense non stop 1 rest x 5.
I wear HR now. It does go up high. I disabled warning. It goes even to 170.
That's it.
Also, I'd go barefoot on gym floors while pivot kicking. Sooooo many ACLs get torn on basketball style flooring. Let your foot pivot.
it's just the fitness gym, not walking barefoot here. Dirty. I tear nothing. I got good joints. I warmed up 5 min runing and 10 min rolling all my joints, dinamic stretch, light shadow box. And the first round of the vid the first half of round 1 I go lighter.
I think people get injured cause warming up is considered boring. I consider it work. Light mobility cardio stretch. Habit. Roll the neck wrist elbows hips shoulders knees in a circle motion. Both directions. 20-30 times. Good habit to keep. From my youth.
So yeah drilling combos is great input. I never do. I barely got any combos. I do some shorter ones.
Monday I wanted to take a trial week at a new gym and we'll surely drill many combos there. And I get to be barefoot which I love. Kicking barefoot is awesome.
You called me out in the post. Don't complain when you don't get a nice response.
I'm just joking bro with you guys like I always do. Oss. You know I got respect.
