I've read a couple times that the UFC plans to move more in the direction of entertainment.
I am wondering what does this actually means? Are good fights not entertaining enough that you need to sell out the sporting aspect of MMA.
Is the signing of CM Punk part of this new moving towards the entertainment business model? Does that mean we should look forwards to more non athletes but people who have a large twitter following trading blows? If that's the case they should move that shit to MTV.
What else is involved in moving towards the business model? Fake trash talking? fake fights at the weigh ins? Diving elbows off the top of the cage?
Hasn't Dana always said he hates people wearing wigs and doing up their hair at the weigh ins? Isn't that part of a entertainment model?
Is part of the entertainment rewarding trash talking and disadvantaging fighters with their heads down focused on fighting?
Are fighting going to be asked to come down the entrance on a zip line, zipping through rings of fire?
Build up the respect in the sport and the fighters and give us good fights, that's the entertainment I want to see and moving towards a so called entertainment model takes away from that.
