I remember in 2020/early 2021 when people had to wear masks everywhere (outside of Texas or Florida) I'd watch TV and see people not socially distancing and got a bit of anxiety. That's when I realized I was already becoming psychologically conditioned to this weird new reality. I missed pre-mask life. With the exception of some places though, it's pretty much done. Most places have a "masks for unvaccinated" rule that is a defacto "no mask" rule. (No one's checking ID for every patron).

- I miss being able to come in and drop my kids for day care. Now the kids wear masks in day care and parents don't come in. This is odd because with my oldest I used to sit and play with him for a minute before leaving for work, now the drop off is super abrupt!

- I miss teaching w/o a mask. I teach all day and have to do so with a cloth in my face. It's really dumb tbh. I was doing an assembly style presentation in an auditorium. The closest row was like 10 feet away from me. I asked if I could just wear a face shield. They told me "yes, as long as you have a mask underneath it."

- I kinda miss not feeling like a leper if I cough or sneeze more than once.

My list is a bit short... Like I said before though, a lot of the changes don't really bother me too much. I don't go out like that anyway and probably wouldn't have time to even if nothing's changed.

What do you miss?

Again, I don't want to turn this political but our governor (Murphy) gets off on the mandates so we may be a bit more stringent than some other places... not Canada though, I feel bad for you guys!

Southern PA here checking in. Pretty much back to normal everywhere.

We were looking at houses pre pandemic and the prices exploded, forcing us to stay put. We're staying in the area anyway, now I am just building additions and remodelling since I can do it all myself for cheap.

Living in Florida shit has pretty much been back to normal for a while.

Yeah. Too bad the rest of the country hasn’t followed your lead. I have family in Florida and they told me they handle things “the way we used to”. If you feel sick you stay home until you feel better. Same as you would for any illness. Time to move on from this shit.

That's good. Are jobs forcing people to get vaxxed? Over here employees have to get the booster (in some cases you can just keep getting tested weekly).

If it weren't for the constant tropical storms and crocs all up in y'all's pools. I'd be up in there!

You seem overly affected. TV giving you anxiety?

Anyway I miss not having to wear masks haha What else is there really?

I think the theme parks did for a while, and some of the other bigger companies, but for the most part no. No one would be able to find workers if they did.

I went down for the entire month of May from NY and it was weird as fuck to stop at a gas station around Jacksonville and 90% of people weren't masked up. I took mine right off it was nice.

My students didn't know what I looked like until I sipped a cup of coffee in front of the classroom in November.

Kid literally said out loud "so, that's what you look like".

We still wear masks. Kids still eat outside

24 hr grocery stores(I work until 11:30 pm, it was a nice "perk" to shop in a quiet store, and not have to use weekend time for that), and restaurants open past 10pm. Working near a 'college town" I used to have no problem finding almost any kind of food place open until midnight or even 2am.(especially on Thurs-Sat) Now, aside from bars, there's only like four places open past 10pm. McDonald's, Taco Bell, Cottage Inn Pizza(all bleh), and then a local place that makes wraps.

Facts! That's weird, I realize I don't know what many of them look like either or other teachers. Except for some kids who don't really wear their masks.

I was growing my beard all messy and unkempt and I didn't care because I'm covering my face anyway... except like you said, when I take a sip of coffee.

Yeah, it may be more strict in South Florida, I haven't been down that way since this started, but central and up it really is almost back to normal.

Central PA here. Can confirm morons everywhere.

I actually miss pandemic life. I loved being able to go out and the roads and stores being completely empty

Same thing happened when I want to Texas... it was April of last year so most places still had masks everywhere.

I went into a restaurant to pick up food with my cousin and he pointed out that no one was wearing masks... I looked around for a second. The feeling is hard to describe... It was like when Wolverine walked through the metal detector in X-men days of future past and no one stopped him and his expression was like "oh, shit!" /nerdmode

A bit of a shocked realization / relief.

Seeing peoples face while I talk to them….That’s about it…

Like I said, some parts I didn't mind at all. I fuckin' loved when it was at its peak and the roads looked like I am Legend. I loved people giving me space at supermarkets and crap. I also like "no knock delivery" and that barbers now schedule everyone... prior to that you'd be sitting in a crowded bench with loud, obnoxious music playing, waiting to be called by the next available chair.

I don't care as much, but my kids are young I just hope this has no developmental side effects for younger kids since facial expression is a strong form of communication and they are biologically programmed to look for cues / synch verbal and nonverbal communication.

I took waking up every day and going to high school in person for granted. I graduated in 2020, and my ceremony was virtual, but what bothered me most was not seeing my friends everyday for my last two months of school.
