We all have those days or nights when we can't train, for whatever reason. For some of us it's work or family obligations, and for the younger portion of us, we can't always get rides to practice. Whatever the reason, what is your favorite grappling related substitute that still allows you to improve your technique, outside of class.

Summary: What is your favorite substitute for class, that allows you to work on your grappling technique?

When I want to work on my grappling I go to my grappling class. The only times I miss class are if I have another commitment or the school is closed. I just take those occasions as the breaks from training that they should be.

If you really want something apart from the stuff already mentioned(GF should always top that list), then learning basic yoga techniques and breathing exercises has been mentioned by several really good grapplers as a great supplement to BJJ.

I said things that help bjj, Although I guess certain activities with your gf could help bjj lol.

School, girlfriend when I had one, re-runs of How I Met Your Mother, Madden.

Girlfriend,

Plus she also does BJJ but different school so we show each other stuff, not bad considering I am over a foot taller about 20kg heavier and she surprises me often.

Stretching in front of the TV.

Kettlebells for 30 or so minutes. Then I shower and cry myself to sleep because I have no gf anymore.

Kettlebells, bag work, kids, wife, video games, yard work, take care of our animals.....in short, I live the other part of my life.

how many hours per day do you guys train? I mean how long does the regular class on the US have? I cant train every day, I get overtrained after a while, my old body (31) needs some rest, at least 1 day of the week... Im thinking though to increse my training rutins 2 times a day, at the afternoon and at night, but basically, at the afternoon, will be only technique, drills drills and more drills, then at night, at the regular class, warm ups, drilling and rolling...
