I know alot of people of different colors and religion that are what you may call conservatives in alot of subjects, but vote Democrat because the gop doesn't reach to them. I don't have any source, but I think at least 70% of gop voters are white male/female. Either if some people like it or not in some decades with emigration, mixed race relationships, their vote base will decrease. Isn't about time to reach those groups and help?

when most of your voting base is old or poor white people.....

ya, that's never gonna happen

One could argue that the main underlying reason poor whites vote GOP (against virtually all their self interests barring Religion), is that they are voting against minorities getting Social Welfare benefits.....well that or guns

if 70% of the party voting is white male/female, then they've got 0 issue considering 77% of america is white. So I think that stat is wrong.

That gallup has them at 89% white. I think you might be mixing up with what percent of the white vote they get, which is still wrong and more around 60% or so.

Anyway, I get that isn't the point of your post so I'll answer the point. The party this year has become untenable. I used to be republican (I was born in India). Then I started working full time and getting more into politics. I've always voted on what I believe will give the most amount of people the most economic potential. In our world today, cutting taxes on everyone (Which disproportionately helps the rich) in order to cut social programs does not maximize economic potential. Not having any plans to make college affordable does not help economic potential. Allowing a healthcare system to continue that sees people go bankrupt even though they work full time and have health insurance is not maximizing potential.

Politicians have done a great job of dividing people into groups and encouraging group think. Go against it and you are looked down upon

when I was younger, I used to think the GOP was just realistic. in that the DEMs wanted idealistic plans, w/o necessarily the proper planning and foresight going into it (see: Europe, Scandinavia).

then I was realized I was giving most of them WAAAAYYY too much credit

They dont need minorities.....for the first time in long time they have done a smart move. double down on white voters and racially divide the country and become the party for white people. This is a good move

Don't whites as a whole vote between parties moreso than non-whites?

Saying that the GOP is 'the party for white people' is similar to saying the DEMS is 'the party for non white people'

I think there is a general trend of minority groups voting more socialist in developed democratic countries though, not just in the US.

So there is a sort of minority-majority dynamic when it comes to political voting habits.

And that is despite many minority groups being culturally conservative.

If the GOP tries to attract minorities the rightwing blogosphere will call them cucks , if the minorities aren't obsequious.

Pander just like the left....but there past that now..it ain't happening.

What the right has done is similar to a poker player going all in on a mediocre hand...the payoff could be big but the odds are against them..high risk, high reward...

The racial demographics of USA are just going to get worse for the republicans and guys like jeb tried to get in on this...trump knows this also but is playing a different angle...I think he's done a hell of a job razzling the white voter but statistically he needs minorities and women to make a g.e. a sure shot. The only thing he can hope for is a low turn out by the left.

I think the right has for the time being given up on the minorities.

im not sure how you can re read your post and still end it with "this is a good move" ...no one wins in that scenario as a society.

They need to take their issues seriously.

When someone says that their foot hurts, you don't win their support by telling them that their foot doesn't actually hurt. If someone says that they're hungry, you don't tell them that they're not hungry. You acknowledge that hunger and then move towards resolving it.

Now, you may not necessarily agree with the solution that they want but if you refuse to even treat their complaint as valid then you will never win their vote. The GOP has basically refused to acknowledge any complaint from the minority sector as a real complaint.

As the country becomes more and more non-white, the strength of the voices behind those complaints will become louder and louder. This means that the more the GOP outright dismisses the validity of those complaints, the more they will force minority voters into the Dem's hands. In the 70's and 80's this could be ignored and still win major elections. Now, it's becoming less and less a sure thing.

You know this is a problem when the GOP hasn't locked down the Asian vote and economically Asians should see GOP policy as beneficial to them.

The economic arguments have lost their strength because the personal connection has been deemed irrelevant. I spend a decent portion of every month fraternizing with local GOP hierarchy (moreso this month since anti-Hillary messaging everywhere is being bumped up during the DNC convention) and everyone knows this is a problem more at the national level than at the local level. At the local level, you can go into any ethnic enclave and show interest and effort. But the national message is so tone deaf, it often undermines local outreach.

Yeah, the left panders to minorities while the right is honest about their bigotry and their contempt for minorities.

This is one of the few scenarios where I'll take the pandering one over the honest one.

But what if they are too stupid to realize their foot doesn't really hurt and they're not really hungry?

They're just being whiners and complainers. After all, my foot doesn't hurt and I'm not hungry, therefore pain and hunger don't exist. It's simple logic.

I'm not sure they flat out deny minority problems EXIST, as much as it's 'oh well, figure it out for yourselves'

not that same thing, technically

if you were to listen to trump and republicans that post here, they are "very very popular" with minorities. the best in fact.

where as those fucking sjw progressive regressive left wing radical islamic leftist libtard liberal democrats do nothing but want blacks to go back to plantations, mexicans to keep working the farms for $1 an hour, and steal the babies from north koreans to make kim chi in their basement bath tubs.

Well, for one, their nominee for President of the United States needs to quit being quoted for saying stuff like this...

"“I’ve got black accountants at Trump Castle and at Trump Plaza — black guys counting my money!” O’Donnell’s book quoted Trump as saying. “I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.

"“I think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is; I believe that. It’s not anything they can control.”

"
Trump told Playboy magazine that O’Donnell’s memoir was “probably true.”

And he wants to be the leader of the free world...
Ok.
