I am not going to say a couple rule changes here and there would change the outcome of the fight. But who knows?

The thing is, leg kicks and knees toward a downed opponent. And I personally think elbows on the ground is fair... (but not having it allowed would change the game so much).

The thing is strikers that took a wrestler on the ground don't have to go on the ground to keep him there, they can look for a way to stomp him out. Or just knee people on the ground.

Yeah it might favor strikers or wrestlers but who knows?
We need more rules like that broken, cause a lot of the fights are very stale when it should not be.

Allowing only punches to the face on the ground, would let fighters not get cuts as easily. And those lanky fighters with long limbs wouldn't be able to attack on the ground... So that would take a huge part of their game.

But also it would make it easier for guys to get submitted and get stood back up.

But for me... I believe it's better for the head kicks on the ground to be allowed. Just to make all the fights a bit more interesting. And not as much wrestlefucking.

Seriously depending on the rules, the champion of the UFC would be so different.

He's lucky knees to the head weren't a factor honestly.

GSP had him dead to rights more times that I can count lining that up.

He sorta made Diaz look like a little brother in terms of wrestling and control, had a better jab all night long... This would have been worse than a 50-45 if GSP could have sent more Diaz's way, and I'm not a huge fan of either.

Agreed. The current unified rules definitely benefit wrestlers.

Diaz talked a shit ton of nonsense tonight, but for one brief moment of clarity, he did make a little bit of sense there for a minute.

What they need to do is have more sucker punches. Only the truly skilled can attempt those.

If knees to the head were at GSP's disposal Nick would be in a Montreal area hospital with a major concussion.

In addition to the once a year UFC Japan show, they should do a once a year "PRIDE FC" rules show in Japan and see which fighters want to go there and do PRIDE rules and open weight bouts and non-title bouts for current champs. Maybe it could be a NYE Japan show.

they do need to change the rules wrestling is fine but when you're holding another man from behind and not moving for a 30sec to a min, thats not fighting. cain is a perfect examples of what a gnp should look like

Time for a rule change alright.

This crap of guys like diaz who can't wrestle worth a fuck keeping a hand or two on the mat while feet planted on the ground, so a guys like gsp can't land knees HAS to stop. BS fucking rule.

Unless real homies in stockton pull that too?

GSP, with current weight classes and PRIDE rules, like diaz's shirt, ends lives, not just fights. To the death homie, to the death.

I think people forget how many pride fights were one guy sitting in another guys guard the whole time. A lot of ppl forget it didnt always look like wandy, fedor n cro cops hl reels. pride rules wont make lay n pray go away.

PRIDE rules evolved quite a bit from PRIDE 1 to PRIDE 34. The earlier PRIDE events had some long boring bouts.

Rampage was very good at knees to the head from side control. I don't remember seeing any solid soccer kicks like the Zoro vs. Roger Huerta one.

I did like how in PRIDE, they'd pause to wipe down the fighters, and the fighters probably appreciated that. No elbows was nice to prevent cheap wins.

Im tired of guys like diaz grabbing his ankles like he did during round 1 and 2 especially.

No Kness to the head, especially when guys like diaz arent even "grounded" is a dumb rule.

or someone in their guard and just hug them hoping ref well stand them up.

I was rooting for Diaz, but if they had under Pride rules, GSP would have finished Diaz in the first.

Totally agree.

And also, if the guy is a striker and he keeps flicking his jab out there but not really doing anything with it, they should give the other guy the choice if he wants it on the ground. Fights always start standing too, so unfair to the wrestlers.

Or if the Condit that fought Diaz reappears or any version of Guida with their running shoes appear, automatic on the ground.

Condit vs. Hendricks is how it's supposed to work as an mma fighter. He got back up. If you can't get back up, you are losing the fight because your opponent is telling you where you're going to be. Not talking active submissions or gnp.
