i'm struggling to find even semi-high profile fighters who might be available.

HW - cormier, werdum, nelson

LHW - hendo/rashad, glover, lil nog, i'm assuming jones-gus will be a ppv

MW - vitor unless it's confirmed he's getting the next title shot

WW - diaz

LW - melendez, maynard

BW - barao vs. wineland rescheduled? is this about it?

come to think of it, there aren't a lot of big fights to fill the main card, period.

There's a few guys I think that might be available... I'm just going on guys we haven't seen in a while or who could be ready by the time the UFC is ready for their third go round on FS1...

LHW - Glover, Lil Nog, Bader, Wanderlei, Mousasi (he could also be a MW)

MW - Bisping, Cung Lee, Stann, Lombard, Jacarae

LW - Jim Miller, Gilbert Melendez, Josh Thompson, Jamie Varner, Ross Pearson

That's all I can think of, off the top of my head. I had a couple names at WW but nothing headline worthy: Cote/Akiyama, Marquardt/Swick

UFC should sign Rumble Johnson and have him vs Wanderlei as main event.

When is it? I could picture Bisping vs. Cung Le with a Franklin vs. Rockhold co-main if they want to keep up the star studded shows.

If it's too early for those guys to be available then I think Gilbert Melendez, Frankie Edgar or Daniel Cormier are probably the most likely candidates to main event.

And the rest of the card will be fine, I'm sure. There's plenty of decent names of up-and-comers who aren't main event ready but could definitely fill out a strong card.

Jones vs Gus should fight there but highly doubt Jones would fight on a free card when he loves all that $$$$

Same goes for GSP

date is sept 4.

bisping had eye surgery, out till Oct.

i believe lombard is dropping to WW.

okami-jacare is in the works, but no way it's a headliner. probably would be on the card or on 164.

Event is September 4 in Brasilia

Possibilities

Barao vs. Wineland (unlikely, as Barao is not expected back until October/November)
Teixeira vs. Nogueira (highly unlikely)
Souza vs. Okami (as mentioned in thread, reportedly in the works, but probably not headlining material)
Wanderlei vs. ?

well damn, that eliminates the one i thought it could be.

didn't realize it'll be in brazil, wand seems like a strong contender then, but against who?

Good post.

Also, at this point, I dont see Dana and Joe booking Lil Nog for an headlining bout, the guy pulls out of fights more than 50% of the times.

Glover wants the winner of Shad vs Hendo, such a fight could be a worthy headliner.

Damn. It sounds like there's going to be a fuckload of these FS1 cards if it'll already be the third one by September 4th. I assumed it was around October or something.

Gilbert Melendez and Daniel Cormier are probably the most likely options, then. Maybe Wanderlei Silva but I can't think of a good opponent. Lil Nog is also possible if he's back by then, I haven't heard how serious his injury is. Barao vs. Wineland would be perfect if Barao's injury won't keep him out too long.

I was also going to suggest Melendez vs. Healy (since it'd be cool to give that five rounds anyway since it was originally a title fight) but Healy's suspension most likely won't be up yet. They might end up just doing Melendez-Thomson IV if nobody else is available.

EDIT: Just saw the other posts. A lot of those sound a lot more unlikely if it's in Brazil. I think Wanderlei Silva seems to be the most likely option, but unless they give him the Feijao-Silva winner (which are both sorta strange choices for Wand at this stage) I'm not sure who there really is for an opponent.
