I've heard:
Puerto Rico has produced the most boxing talent per capita.
California because of it's size
Pennsylvania and Michigan have to be up there too.

What do you experts say?

Thanks.

Sonny Liston, Joe Frazier, Bernard Hopkins, Meldrick Taylor, and Danny Garcia...all champs from Philly. There might be more.

In the amateurs, Cubans.

Pro's, I don't think anybody cares to take count

I've often assumed new York but could be wrong. For whatever reason, the east coast has spawned the majority of American champions.

oh and if we're including PR and per capita, definitely PR. I'm a huge PR fan, the hands down toughest and amongst the best.

Cali. Oscar, Shane, so many more

I doubt it. East coast all the way if you count the overall history. Could be wrong but I doubt it. Cali, Wa and Oregon especially the latter two have never been sources of great boxers. In fact, I don't think any great fighter was ever produced by Wa or OR. Cali having the latinos and the population that it does they will have some but I don't think it compares to the east. More slums, more ghetto's more tough men and more great boxers. And let's not forget the south where the greats often migrated from, Ray Robinson, Joe Louis both were southerners by birth.

Brownsville , Brooklyn,New york.

cincinatti a good one

Ghana produces the Toughest fighters but not the best.

We're talking city or states not regions bro.

Detriot!!!! The greatness of Floy

detroits bigtime, both joe and ray spent time in the south, nyc and Detroit. Then we have the whole kronk team.

one of the boxing mags used to have a regular article on cities and their fighters. some cities had lots of greats, some like Seattle would never even get mentioned.
