I want to have a real discussion about this so just leave now if you're the type of person who only answers the thread title // can't read.

So let's jump right into this and be honest, Daniel was the best version of himself in the first Jon fight.

No matter what Ariel made some of you dummies believe, he is NOT a "new and improved" DC.

He's older, fatter and slower.. we truly haven't seen the same Cormier SINCE the first fight with Bones!

He already threw everything and the kitchen sink @ Jones the first go round, he did EXACTLY what he needed to win and it STILL wasn't enough!

The pressure that's on Daniel when it comes to fighting Jon is just too much for him to handle, he was going to miss weight vs Jon @ UFC 200 too! He is WAY too emotional and can't deal with how alpha Jon is over him, there's no denying it.

So what does he, or his fans, even SEE him "improving" or "changing" to get the W this time? Like, what is his path to victory in you guys eyes?

He could be taller and have a longer reach.

That's about it.

Well jones won't have his juice this time. I feel DC is the better boxer so I hope he lets his hands go more and try to find a way to close the distance. I'd like to see him implement olbique kicks too.

i doubt there is anything DC can do at this point, at his age, to overcome such a massive size disadvantage

the only hope DC has to beat Jones, imo, is if Jones has gotten much worse as a fighter since the last time they fought. Cause he would have to be a much worse fighter than DC, to lose agaist him with such a frame advantage, fighting downhill the entire time, inside a cage

If you don't want to lose to Jones then dont sign the contract

DC is about to get emasculated again. You can't beat the GOAT at his own game

Yeah I dunno hes too consumed by it. He desperately wants that victory and thats the reason he probably wont get it. As far as the physical aspect try and take that motherfucker down early and often. Hell get pieced up both at range and in the clinch. While Jon can sub him from bottom I think thats his least likely way of losing. DC should let go of his expectations and let the victory happen naturally, theres no way in hell hes forcing it. Just helax.

DC should be about a 4-1 underdog in my opinion. So about 25% and I think I'm being generous.

Needs to somehow take Jones down and keep him there. Hopefully he is Training a lot of cardio so he can try to outwork Jones also.

I am hoping that the stricter drug testing and jones issues outside the octagon come into play

DC has better hands than Jon. He's faster and hits harder. He was lighting Jon up in the clinch / dirty-boxing range in the first fight, until he gassed.

He can beat jon if he can force that same type of in close dog-fight, and not tire out. It will come down to cardio and will.

Someone else also suggested (wisely) that Cormier should mix up his attack and really try and target Bones body early, rather than soley head-hunt like last time. Give Jon a taste of his own medicine.

He was outboxing Jones and he needs more leg kicks as well. He needs to use the overhand right a lot more too, its a great way to threaten takedowns.

If Jones isn't juiced to the gills this time, that will be a factor.

maybe if he were on his low 30s with nice cardio he could have beat him, but now it's too late

Yep, DC really needs to target the body, and not head hunt like the first fight. Head hunting got him nowhere, and it didn't really pay off in the later rounds. Since his wrestling was nullified, he should've used another area of attack to try and drag him into deep waters, so he has a better chance of being on an even playing field for later, and possibly even getting TDs late into the fight, and win rounds that way, or possibly even stop a tired, and hurt Jones.

DC has the prototypical body type to be a body attacker against the taller man, and I don't think he went to the body, at all in the first fight. Kill the body, and the head will fall. Also not to mention, he saves energy by not extending himself as much, and Jones' body is right there for the taking, since his face is pretty much at chest level with him.

I pretty much agree with some of the others. His standup didn't look that bad in the first fight, and his dirty boxing was probably better.

He needs to throw more leg kicks, all while watching out for John's oblique kicks and straight off of the back foot. I think that was Jon's biggest weapon in that fight.

His cardio should be fine and he went through hell and back with Gus so I don't think JJ will be able to break him.

I mean the first fight was pretty damn close until DC gassed so we'll see.

He probably will have to win it standing, I don't see him taking Jon down so body work and leg kicks will be key.

I'm more concerned whether Dc can make weight, he won't get away those shenanigans again

Give DC a fucking Sword !

Dc won 2 out of 5 rounds. It wasn't a blow out by any stretch. He just needs to win more rounds this time.

If Jones fights like Bones of old, DC has no chance. The unknown here is that JBJ has been out of action for quite a while and had all the mental stress of the last few years on his plate. This is a big shot for him, and that is stressful in its own right. Is he going to be the Bones we knew, or is he going to be timid like his last fight and have ring rust and nerves? That's the question here.
