Mario's reaction time during the Lewis/Browne fight was that of someone who's drunk. I'm all for people earning a living, but that's some career ending unnecessary damage he let Travis take. Has anyone ever heard of a ref getting fired before? Also great job by Lewis calling out Browne after the fight.

He's the worst ref ever. Not just because of this. I've always maintained that. He's terrible. He makes bad calls, is late, doesn't know the rules and NEVER verbalizes anything ever. He's like a mute. He can yell stop while coming in but he never has in his life.

that was a great stoppage, stop being so sensitive

better to have a late stoppage than an early one

and accumulated damage overtime is the problem, not some one or two extra blows at the KO

Mario always looks like he's either drunk or drugged in ever fight. I think all the refs the Cabbage Patch Kid, the Transgender and Drunken Mario were terrible tonight.

I'm all for making sure the guy is done...but if you can look at the fight again and see how close Mario was and the time in between when Travis' head flew backwards with his eyes closed..and still think it's a good stoppage, then I guess we agree to disagree...you probably want to see someone get killed.

Earlier in the fight travis yelled he was OK. You guys bitch so much about early stoppages.

The point of the matter is, that if a fighter is obviously unconscious then the ref shouldn't have to stop the fight! The fighter should! And if they are excessive in their strikes on a KO'd opponent then they should be disqualified and lose half their pay packet.

Great stoppage by Mario.

You guys are idiots

That's what a KO looks like

I'm sorry you're all conditioned with Herb Dean's in the middle of combination stoppages.

Mario is one of the best in the game.

He VERBALIZES warnings and asks fighters to defend them selves while they're taking damage and stops it once they stop defending them selves.

Too many MMA referees think

damage = stoppages.

dude travis begged him not to stop the fight 2 minutes before it happened.
travis would have cried if he stopped it.
you probably would have cried if he stopped it

Plus it's Travis Browne. Yamasaki knows what's up. Perfect stoppage.

Yeah, totally necessary to have him KO'd completely unconscious when it was obvious he wasn't defending himself.

Need gif.

I too thought it was a bit late. But i was pretty baked. Meaning more sensitive and shit. Dont like seeing guys go out like that when they are already limp..

He didn't yell that he was ok when he was seemingly incoherent in the process of getting knocked unconscious.

Not a terrible stoppage. I counted 1 (maybe 2 - and these shots come quick) shot after Travis' hands were completely down. Shot 2 while Mario was moving in to stop it.
However, this in no way precludes Mario from being a bad ref.
