That was a thing of beauty, complete mixed martial arts. Made a thread that Cain will dominate a 5 rounder, but never expected JDS' will to be broken like that.

Few things I noticed:

1- That fight is all about that first round. What Cain did was completely sick. Throwing telegraphed takedowns, combos with takedowns, head kicks, all at a quick aggressive pace showing no fear of getting KOd again, and all that just froze JDS. You can clearly see in that first round, JDS did not know what to do! His hands froze, he stopped boxing and using his jab. The fear of the takedown was so high, and that's the power of being a complete fighter.

2- JDS ground game is actually pretty freakin good. That was a broken down, out of breath JDS that we saw and still he couldn't be held down for a long time and that's pretty sick. In a fight where Cain doesn't land a super punch to take JDS's breath and they are just fighting at their best, JDS can stop TDs and spring back up faster making it a completely different fight.

3- Cain seriously needs to go for submissions! Obviously this has been mentioned all over sherdog, but when JDS was rocked to hell, there was an easy RNC. I get no hooks so he can ride the back when they scramble but take a risk when there's a huge opportunity like that. Would have been Fedor like to get in there, get the TDs, get the power punch and get that RNC.

4- The crowd deserves a vicious ass whooping for booing JDS like that. I love JDS, he's a fighter, every dog has his day, everyone takes a beating in this game, but booing him like that is just seriously twisted. Guy is superbly genuinely nice.

5- To the idiots saying Cain's cardio is a myth, you have confirmed that you are an idiot. The amount of emotions that runs through you in a fight affects your cardio, add that to Cain spamming TDs and kissing the floor consecutively, plus the rush of trying to finish, and about a billion takedowns and two billion takedown attempts, and mixing kickboxing and clinching for 25 minutes, you have a superhuman heavyweight. Heavyweights aren't made to do this for 25 minutes. This is bad as when you said Cain's chin sucks, probably the exact same people.

Cain and JDS will definitely meet at least 4 times in this lifetime. Them and Overeem are miles away from everyone else so expect these 3 to fight each others over and over.

Thanks for the ones who read! WAR CAIN and WAR JDS,

Yes Cain put together a great performance and JDS proved he is a warrior by surviving that.

I think a third fight will happen for sure after JDS wins a few fights.

Maybe JDS should welcome Cormier to the UFC.

100% Agreed ! Round 1 showed just how good Cain is.

There was a thread on here (can't search atm) that was "Dethroning the King" or something like that and it literally called the fight 100%

Get off of Cain's nuts.

It was a great performance. After the first fight he didn't make excuses he just said he waited too long and didn't take it to him. Thats exactly what he did and it didnt give JDS a second to get in his stride.

Its a shame so many that are in denial and are looking for any excuse as to why it happened. It happened because Cain was the better on the night.

No possible excuse for that lol. It's a fight, and it went down that way. First fight went the other way. It's a fight, no excuses.

Good post. I agree with all 4 points. I have to admit I didn't see Cain pulling it off, obviously I knew it was possible but didn't see it as probable.
Massively impressed with his determination, his tenacity and cardio. He didn't look like a guy that was KO'ed in about a minute in the 1st fight, so his mental strength and focus was what impressed me the most.

I'll still be rooting for JDS in 3rd though! Should be able to get good value on him too I reckon.

You're one of the best posters on this board. Keep fighting the good fight iLesnar.

Cain did great, but couldn't finish.

Junior did great to survive and get stronger through the fight when we thought he was done.

It seems Junior game plan was to whether the early storm ala Silva v Sonnen II and come back in the 3rd and KO Cain.

It didn't work out.

I expect a different outcome in the 3rd fight, if Junior adds a few tools to his game.

Great spectacle nonetheless.

I agree with TS here. Cain was very impressive it was just a shame JDS got so shell shocked in that 1st round otherwise it would've been a great fight.

I can see JDS working on his cardio, destroying everyone else and coming back for the rubber match.

Love this guy! - True MMA fan - Keep it up.

Good OP. I'm a little less confident in Overeem, though. As impressive as his skillset is, his cardio is for shit. I've said it before; he has at most 2 rounds to finish Cain. After that, Cain's pace buries him.

Great post!
Thank you.

First round was just amazing, 2nd round was pretty good too.
I think Velasquez could've kept and finish the fight on the feet in the 2n round, JDS didn't have much to offer in that round. JDS got a second air later in the 3rd or 4th round.

It was a sweet victory that almost makes me forget all the idiots who didn't give Velasquez a chance, but I would've loved a TKO, even if it was an earlier stoppage :)
