I never really watched Kojak, so I can't comment on him.

Columbo, though, was awesome. The murderers always thought he was some bumbling fool, never taking him seriously as they thought he was easily outsmarted, until Columbo slowly and subtly caught them in their lies and solved the murder.

sounds like monk. that show was pretty damn good. i wish i could have made some room for him on my list. i guess he'll get an honorable mention.
