It can't be understated how much corruption, lies, bribery has had an adverse effect on the decision making abilities of everyone on capitol hill and the white house. Corporate lobbyists seem to have a chokehold on the vast majority of the congress and senate, as well as the white house. The Saudis and other big money influencers seem to always be making moves behind the scenes in D.C. too.

What ideas do you have for limiting corruption as a whole in the Capitol, Nationwide, and making elected officials as transparent as possible and accountable for their actions?

Bernie winning and limiting corporate lobbying would be a good start.

A bad ass pension for life and a law that states after serving you are never ever ever allowed to work in the private sector again in your life.

Vote for my preferred candidates, who are anti-corruption, unlike those other candidates, who like doing corruption.

    Says the Hillary Clinton supporter.

It's nice to see this guy gimmick die out though. Look at his post again.

"My preferred candidates who are anti-corruption"

"Unlike those other candidates, who like doing corruption"

It's clear as night and day this guy is trolling. "Who like doing corruption" isn't even proper English.

It didnt need to be fixed. They do the bidding of corporations banks and assorted interests and then get cushy no show jobs when they get out of office to legally pay for the favor. Once you leave office you should never be allowed to work anywhere ever again public or private and you should be compensated properly for your service to your country

    In before "term limits"

(they won't help, think 'lobbyist finishing school')

One way to address corruption would be to stop electing people who are unbelievably and obviously corrupt, and to not allow them the power to stop people from holding them accountable for their corruption.

You can’t have a corrupt government if there’s no government in charge
    <seedat>

No but really the Federal government has no business being as big as it is. I have zero answers besides scaling back the size of the federal government.

Smaller fed means bigger state and I would think that you didnt solve the problem you just moved the pieces around . Look how corrupt major cities across the country are. You see local level politicians get busted for shit and sent to jail all the time.

This guy is a troll too, he speaks like he's anti corruption etc yet his preferred candidate in 2016 would be Hillary who at that point had a proven track record of corruption. Say what you will about Trump for being mean and saying off colored things, at the time, Hillary was an actual corrupt career politician.

Of course. Since the thread was about DC, I only have a solution for the federal government especially since it was never supposed to be like this.

edit: although the Fed has actually expanded state governments through programs like HUD. States have these programs because they’re basically forced to if they want to accept the money.

You implicitly conceded that it needed fixing in your statement here two sentences later:

Someone from the political class still having access to the levers of political power poses a far greater risk and danger to the rest of us then some former politician going to work for a private enterprise.

This is an undisputable fact, yet somehow I suspect you're going to resist this notion.

Make public service a burden, like the founders intended. Remove the ability to privately profit off of office, similar to how inmates can’t profit off their crimes. No books or speaking tours, regular audits by the IRS, limit the ability of corporations to campaign. Also a renewed focus on positive civic attitudes for the nation as a whole. Prop up role models who improve the community rather than vapid celebrities. So, in essence, an impossible number of changes that can’t remotely happen due to greed.
