The best live version of this song imo.

@FeloniousMonk give it a watch, bit long but blows up at the end too.

"Bit long"

*looks at "9minutes" like:

Hahah

That's a great one. The breakdown
at 3:40-4:30 is my favorite part.
He has a great band here. Lots of
great energy.

Yeah Van gets a bad rep for being a lousy live performer, for being grumpy, turning his back to the audience etc. and he probably was in the late 80s but when you look at this stuff he's actually great imo. Not a 'showman' like a lot of singers, but well...a shaman or something.

Outtake from the Moondance sessions.

Jeff Labes: "On the first session in New York we recorded with most of the guys on Astral Weeks - but it was obvious that everything was going to sound like Astral Weeks again, and there was a feeling among us that that was not going to wash..."

John Platania: "The high point for me was a jam called "Caledonia Soul Music", which was never released. Van was doing his stream-of-consciousness thing, it went on for about 15 minutes. I remember grabbing a beer bottle and using that as a slide. It was wild. The only direction he gave us was..."don't step on my vocals".

Great video as well, Rob had to have picked up some things from it.

This song is so chill.. I love it

Thank you Mallrats.
