Aside from when oliveira fights, this year has not been that exciting tbh. What are some of the big fights remaining for 2022?

Too many of the ufc stars are getting older and losing and nobody that is coming up is really bringing the hype and replacing them aside from khamzat.

MMA fans are the worst.

Nobody is bringing the hype aside from Chimaev? Did you watch the card last night?
I never heard of them before they were announced for the main event. And I didn't watch it.

I wasn't even talking about the main event. I was talking about Rakhmonov and Nurmagomedov, who both have massive hype trains behind them.

The main event was also excellent though, and some of the highest level of MMA you'll ever see.

again, this is all from the perspective of a hardcore fan. the casual mma fan has no clue who rakhmonov & nurmagomedov are. chimaev had the unique situation of having 3 insanely dominant performances in the span of like 2 weeks at a point in time when everyone was stuck inside on their phone so he was everywhere you looked on social media.

hell, if he could have capitalized on his push with a big win or post fight interview, we’d all be talking about joaquin buckley the way we do about chimaev. he had the same push. it makes sense that casuals get hyped about an undefeated killer who talks a ton of shit. rakhmonov & umar don’t fit that bill.

I've turned into a filthy casual I know about Rakhmonov not so much the other Nurmagomedov. Both have boring personalities and more importantly they don't have an exciting fighting style.

What are the remaining big fights (for a casual) in 2022?

Idk man, Rakhmonov is 16-0 with 16 finishes. I'd say that warrants being called exciting.

I saw the magny fight that was typical Eastern European wrestling domination not fun to watch imo. I know I said Chimaev brings the hype but that's because his last fight was great and other factors that don't involve his fighting style.

There will be title fights that haven’t been announced yet. But, you have to watch the cards to know the rising fighters in the UFC. If all you do is read these boards, you should still actually know the names. But, seeing people say they’ve never heard of the main event fighters from last night tells you these people literally don’t watch the cards regularly, if even seldomly.

We see it every week. This upcoming card is the worst ppv/FN/card ever. And people in the thread proudly proclaim they aren’t going to watch. You only get back what you put in. If all you care about are big names and drama, and are skipping all these FN cards this year. You’re missing some really entertaining fights.

Jiri vs TBA in Nov/Dec

Colbys next fight.
Connor fight this year potentially.
Olives next fight.
Chandlers next fight.
Jon Jones next fight.

All happening in 2nd half of 2022.

Judging by your thread topic and then another post you put up, you simply don't watch much MMA, which is fine, BTW.

You want stars fighting. You want to get excited. Well I'd suggest watching more UFC cards, especially the last 3 UFC events. All have been fire with a few potential future champions fighting, which may then become stars one day.

What?

Isreal Adesanya is fighting next week. When Stylebender arrives it’s always a big fight
Except Jared is one of the most undeserving title challenges since bisping
Not his fault, the division is weak right now. But still not an exciting matchup. Hope I'm wrong and Izzy gets sparked though

Dude Rahkmonov has finished every fight he's had, including 4 finishes in the UFC! How is that not exciting? Even for a filthy casual fan?
