What are the chances of India producing a high level fighter that can become the UFC champion?

I did a bit of digging and its not looking good for the whole region. The top 4 worst performers in Olympics(countries with Large population were considered)

CountryPopulation (millions)Olympic MedalsAppearancesMedals per Million
Bangladesh175070
DR Congo1060120
India150041260.027
Pakistan24611180.045

What are their chances for what...this year? Next 5 years? Throughout humanities entire existence?

India does not have the infrastructure to compete in MMA for the foresable future. They do not have good MMA gyms, nor do they have any good gyms in staple sports that transition into MMA.

India's martial art culture is based more around their folkstyle wrestling, which isn't that organized or nationally popular enough to produce a meaningful amount of fighters. Other than that, you're better off finding a super yoga athlete than a martial artist if you wanted a good Indian prospect.

They of course "could" generate a high level fighter if they gave a shit and got their shit together, but India does not for a variety of reasons.

Anybody remember this guy? XD https://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Satisch-Jhamai-8337
(He actually fought Tom Aspinall) Pretty big for a fighter from India^^

India good at math, can probably come up with better estimate than most. I will go with low priority. Not much youth exposure to mma except wrestling. Athletic Indians would tend to pursue cricket, soccer and other more popular sports.

Considering there being no MMA infrastructure in India, its a lot likelier you get a potential star from the dispora. Though, that's not the kind of dispora that gravitates towards combat sports.

"I did a bit of digging" = I asked ChatGPT.

What a sorry state the world is in. And I asked ChatGPT what state the world was in.
Nah I had to correct that Muppet multiple Times. I swear I could have done it faster myself. Chatgpt was getting the wrong medal count for some reason and had the wrong rankings. Infact It gave India 35 medals when they have 41 hence even lower ratio and I had to correct it

Because it's not google. You do not ask ChatGPT for numeral facts like that.

The wait for the next Gama has to continue. Losing to a Chinese as well...

If they can produce the undefeated GOAT catch wrestler they can produce an MMA world champion, there just needs to be more funding and interest there which will take time.

They have martial arts as well as wrestling but it's more weapons styles...swords with no body armour type stuff pretty hardcore.
Boxing or kickboxing not so popular though I don't think.

It's there, its when they can be bothered

There was Ashnul Jubli at LW who I thought was looking good against Mike Breeden until the guy started crumbling from literally being barked at. So bizzare.

They're respectable in women's freestyle wrestling and men's freestyle in small weight classes
I will not be surprised if someone can make it from being 3rd or 4th at Olympic teams to MMA at a young age, and then switch to Thailand to learn striking and how to mix it
Someone starting from scratch in the local scene would struggle as they're not winning much in Road to UFC, or even Brave, and UAE Warriors. I don't remember any good prospect coming from there

As good as any country where MMA/martial arts/ fighting aren't really a thing .... Just seemed more skewed because there population is insane.
