What are some interesting facts about the Mongkon/Mongkol?

I'm taking a Folklore course in University and one of the things that I'm required to do for evaluation is a written assignment on any one object. I decided to do it on the Muay Thai Mongkon.

What can you guys tell me about the origin, history, production process etc that might not be well known?

I have seen youtube videos of monks blessing them, and I know they are not used in other Indochinese fighting arts. Thats about all I know about them.

I answered because the internet and its dwellers has given me helpful info plenty of times.

When he die or the fighter trade his camp,the mongkon keep with the trainer
