I see a lot of hate and disinterest for WMMA around here lately. I’m just wondering where this is all coming from. It’s like people on here prefer two sweaty dudes rolling around on the mat rather than two attractive women.

The WMMA divisions are still developing and while the fights usually go to decision for the most part they are still giving true MMA fans their money’s worth by putting in 15 minutes of action. So what’s with all the WMMA hate?

Is it just a bunch of insecure virgins threatened by a women that could kick their ass? It seems like just yesterday Ronda and WMMA were very popular and now all I read on here is how amateurish and boring they are and that they need to be sent back to Invicta. Real fans of the sport should have appreciate the intensity and technique they bring to the UFC so what is the problem?

Personally I think instead of touching gloves to start a fight they should have to kiss

Roxanne Modafferi. Definition of technique.

WMMA constituted one whole hour of last night's cards that could've been used for actual exciting fights/fighters.

At this point it's just a WME cash-grab while scoring SJW points at the same time.

it's not wmma, it's woman sport in general...

Basketball is my favorite sport.
I can't watch woman basketball without gettin' bore to death...

Even woman in fake wrestling are becoming a pain in the arse...
(and THEY are attractive womems for the most part)

Honestly, you had me until "intensity" at the very end there. You hit all the white Knight talking points, though. Damn good job.

lol to be honest, the level isn't there yet. there are some very skilled female fighters, but not that many. they are also less explosive than men (not sherdog explosive)
also Ronda may have been popular with casuals, she was hated here.
finally they are not all attractive, and it shouldn't matter we are talking fighting skills, not appearence, weird you use that as an argument in favout of WMMA

i personally don't see the connection with attraction and mma. if i'm going to pay to watch fighting it has nothing to do with the fighters appearance and everything to do with their skill.

They lack the physicality to entertain and sustain the audiences attention for a decent amount of time. Besides Rose, Joanna, Cyborg, Valentina, Felice, Claudia, Andrade and Nunes, most WMMA fighters can't even throw a convincing punch. Pair that with the fact that they're naturally weaker than men and have almost no Power, in the majority of the fights there's little to no fear/expectation of a Knock Out. There's no division let alone fighter that consistently knocks out people other than Cyborg. Meaning whenever it's a WMMA fight we run the risk of watching a very boring 15 minutes unless someone takes it to the ground. I wouldn't say I'm a fan of WMMA, but I do respect those who look to put on a good show and look like they know what they're doing.

And unfortunately since there are not many fighters of the Caliber of the ones I listed, good WMMA matches are few and far between.

You nailed it.
Some people just don't like it (and your reasoning seems to be on point to me), and they are under the impression that if they don't like it, no one should have it.
So they are vocal about it, and because they are vocal, they seem to think they are the majority, despite evidences to the contrary (i.e. Holm & Cyborg being the 3rd most viewed card of 2017, or as you mentioned, Ronda, etc).

The talent pool is not as deep so the bouts aren't as high level. The resulting product has a lower rate of high quality matchups. Thats why there is a backlash. I dont think it has to do with any sort of male insecurities, that kind of stuff is abstract whereas the number of competitors is a concrete factor.

I do like WMMA, but we have to acknowledge two basic truths that can keep it from being as good as male MMA.

A) Women just don't have the power and explosiveness than men do, so we're not going to see nearly as many awesome knockouts. I can probably count on 2 hands how many women I've seen get actually knocked out cold in the history of WMMA, whereas you see a dude get KTFO at least once on every card.

B) WMMA is a relatively new thing and the level of talent just isn't that high. In the UFC you have a couple really good women fighters, a decent amount of good fighters, but mostly mediocre fighters.

Paige VanZant's background was dancing and cheerleading.

Let that sink in.

the fights suck
the champion fights part time entertainers and they hype her up as she can beat male fighters
virgin fans jump on the forum and talk about doing x y z with a fighter
the fighter they talk about is below average but they hype her up
