Thompson has fought the very best in his division for years. His style has defeated most of his opponents and several via TKO/KO. Very few fighters have luxury of knocking out most of the very best in their division(s). Anderson Silva and Conor McGregor are two that do/did. Wonderboy is not them. So what. He’s still a dynamic fighter looking to punch and kick holes in his opponents faces. He’s primarily a counter fighter so it no wonder that he has difficulty with others looking to do the same. Furthermore, that Till fight was awesome. Both Till and Thompson were successful during portions of the fight and IMO it was fun to watch the chess match. At least that’s how I felt watching it, maybe I’ll change my mind after a second go...

They are not men of culture.

Till vs Wonderboy was one of the most cultured fights in recent memory, a respectful chess match between a British guy and a guy who looks like Wonderboy does. Pure artistry.

It's the same hate that a lot of fighters who are not known for finishing their opponents get.

The "just bleed" fans are still in high numbers.

Takes a certain type of character to enjoy 'watching the chess match' - indeed, a character that is not generally represented around these parts

Sherdoggers are mostly disrespectful and display their intelligence by shitting on fighters.

Wonderboy is a top 3 fighter, so they are aware of him, and he's had 3?4? boring main events. Sherdoggers have a pass to shit on this man freely now.

I totally understand wanting excitement in fights but that can happen without knockouts or rock em sock em. Chess match fights are my favorite, although perhaps my distaste for knockouts where a fighter is rendered unconscious or handed a terrible beating has something to do with it. And I suppose chess match fights don’t put people in seats and buying PPV’s. Is what it is.

Im not seeing alot of hate for Wonderboy, I am seeing people crucifying Till and Demanding that he move up weightclasses lol

Lets be honest, most people want to see violence. Nothing wrong with that.

WB fights look more like sparring or even dancing at times. I don't mind it but it's not for everyone.

I don't think it's hate. More frustration because this fight was expected to be epic but really didn't deliver. Both fighters showed too much respect and it ended up being rather lacklustre.

actually some pre-fight analysis expected the fight could be a little too much of tactics and look boring. because of the style of both fighters. it made sense and it actually ended up true. I was not surprised.

He's consistenyl had boring fights, 3 of his last 5 have been memorably snooze inducing.

He had some good showings when he was coming up, but now he's leaving a bad taste in alot of peoples mouths, even my own and I'm a fan.

They are just blaming wonderboy for Till being a pussy.

Nothing against Wonderbread, he's great at what he does. However I tend to agree with most fans that if a fight is going to be at the top of the bill, it should be one of the most exciting fights on the card. The type of style Thompson employs does not make for an exciting fights unless the other fighter is aggressive enough to dictate the pace of the fight. He did it to Woodley first and he just did it again to Till.

I enjoyed the fight personally, just because I was curious about how Till would deal with the type of fight Thompson brings to the table. There's a very good reason why this fight wasn't a top fight on a PPV, Wonderboy dictated the pace of the fight and when that happens against another skilled striker then you end up with the Till/Woodley fight.

I seriously want someone to take Wonderboy out of his comfort zone and employ a grapple heavy type of fight. It could be wrestling, BJJ or it could be more clinch work. Either way in order to make it a more exciting fight against Wonderboy you need to determine how the fight is going to unfold, not the other way around. If it's not too exciting most of the casual fans will just want to tune out.

yeah, no idea why he would be getting hate. it must not be something totally obvious..............

great thread!

Most sherdoggies know absolutely nothing about fighting and have never been punched or kicked let alone been in an actual fight.

I respect wonderboys skill set and definitely recognize him as a top 5 WW

However his lack of tenacity and grit is really frustrating. Going up against Woodley twice and till he never fought to win, but simply to avoid losing. To me, he should be the champ but doesn't have that mentality required
