What’s the point of tipping before service

I always pay/tip my barber beforehand. just to get it out of the way.

Let’s get this out the way I always tip, before or after service whatever

but on a lot of delivery apps you have to input a tip before the person comes

why call it a tip? That’s not a it’s just a service fee I don’t understand
I believe delivery folks see what tip you are offering and decide to accept the job or whatever. Some people tip like 100 bucks but change it to zero when the food gets to them. It's also they live in a bad area and nobody wants to deliver to them.

I always tip 3-5 bucks but I order real close by like less than a mile away or 15 min walk time max. I am not sure I am being a cheapo or not.

I see more restaurants here adding an automatic tip before hand now. It's pretty much needed due to inflation and trying to give these employees a decent wage and healthcare. The restaurant industry is brutal. I don't know why people do this to themselves.

Doordash is having that habit on their app...a tip must be included, there is already a processing fee...a delivery fee, ffs. WAY too many fees on this app.

Probably a means of ensuring the servers don’t get stiffed.

I’m gonna need more inspirational tiktok dance videos by essential food service workers to be able to form an opinion on this.

Yeah it's bullshit. That's why I don't use Uber eats or door dash.

tip before I even get service? That's a tax. Fuck paying extra taxes.

And no, I don't care that the employees depend on tips. If we all stopped tipping, nobody would take those jobs, and the employers would be forced to raise wages.

Then they'd raise prices to cover that, which I'm fine with. At least higher prices is honest.

You can change the tip to nothing if there’s an issue.

WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO TIP AT ALL it is an arbitrary and ridiculous system.

To Insure Proper Service
We dont even tip for proper service anymore we tip so they dont tip shame you or sabatoge your food next time. The reason is that folks are tipping shitty service all the time so they arent tip shamed and this gives shitty servers a sense of entitlement to a tip even when one isnt deserved.
