Just saw that they are now protesting the Portland Trailblazers because the team has publicly supported marriage equality.

My question is, why don't more religious people put their money where their mouth is and join the Westboro Baptist Church in protesting something Christianity is obviously against?

    It is gods will right?

Ya, they pop up from time to time. I think there is really only a handful of them left.
They seem to stand up for what they believe in as crazy and hurtful as it may be.

The sad part is watching the kids repeat the ridiculous mantra when asked why they are protesting.

I don't think this is gods will in fact I think god is completely against this. Being gay is a sin and from my understanding all sins are the same. So they should be protesting tattoo parlors, anyone who lies, etc.

everyday christians? That's a broad brush.

There are quite a lot of Christians who probably have the same views as these folks when it comes to homosexuality. I'm sure a bunch make donations, or just don't vocalize it.

There are also lots of Christians who are tolerant and forgiving of sins. You have lots of christian churches that will perform same sex marriages for example.

I'm not religious but you're trying to lump all people into one tidy group.

Sounds less like a problem with every day christians and more like a problem with the christians you know, or more likely imagine you know.

Christianity is not aligned against gay marriage. This is something only the dumbest, least capable readers among Christians believe. Whether Christians individually oppose it is a matter of their own making, but Jesus never did himself.

Join Westboro? We don't because they're hateful bigots. I can have a negative view of homosexuality without hating homosexuals or screaming vile hateful things at them.

Protest? I do - I don't have pay movie channels (hbo, cinemax, sho, etc.) because I don't support what they show. I don't go to IMAX theater because I don't support the movies that they show either. OH and I don't watch the view - see how protest works.

It isn't even the protesting; it's the way they do it. Deciding who God loves or doesn't clearly isn't in my Bible. What's worse is that they teach these kids to hate others when Jesus taught to love your enemies.

Btw- these people mostly do it hoping to have their protest interupted - there are over a dozen lawyers in the family - yeah every member of WBC is related in one way or another. Then they sue the locality for violating their right to free speech.

    Not strictly true.
True that Jesus was hanging around guys and whores. If you just want to keep the religion of christianity to be bonded only with Jesus. The christians that follow his supposed message stick to all kinds of letters.
Written here and there by a few peoples.

The letter from this guy is pretty obvious

But who cares? These texts were written at least 50 (more likely a hundred) years after this Jesus guy.

The christians seem to hold on to these letters as much as the gospels.

I don't want to REALLY delve into this, but that was a Jew yelling at the Romans about his faith.

Jesus died for our sins, and so those concerns should have been erased the same way that all outdated Leviticus sins were erased (like not keeping kosher, eating fat, drinking alcohol in holy places, not doing your hair, bearing a grudge, creating non-natural fabrics, trimming your beard, selling land, and working on Friday).

john 8:7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."

now, please shut the fuck up
