According to "MMA Analyst and Host of Sportsnet's UFC Central (Tv and Radio); Certified MMA Ref and Judge, former MMA Promoter, Manager, Sponsor, Producer..." Joe Ferraro's twit:
Does anyone think Werdum could win over either and become "the NEW!!!"?...

Cain will TKO him in the first round.

I don't take any of it at face value.

If Dos Santos beats Cain in a few weeks, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cormier booked.

A Werdum/Cain fight would be much more exciting because of the style clash imo, even though I like both guys and don't want either to lose

    and this too

I don't think he can be favored over either man, but he certainly has a better chance against Cain than he does against JDS.

JDS would probably knock him out standing again, since Werdum can't get him down and is outmatched standing, even with his improved Muay Thai. He has a better shot against Cain though because his BJJ is good enough to make Cain think twice about getting him down/being too aggressive on the ground, and Werdum's Muay Thai and power are enough to trouble Cain in the standup.

Cain is the better fighter and should win but I highly doubt that.

  9. Agreed. JDS is a terrible match up for Werdum, but I can see him giving cain trouble. Love this announcement, WERDUM TIME

I think he would be competitive with Cain. Styles making fights and all that.

Though I say Cain blazes through him on the feet.

    Junior destroys him though.

    Watch Bigfoot/Werdum.

Bigfoot beat Werdum standing until he tired himself out. Cain made Bigfoot look amateur standing. Completely different class.

That was 2009... the same time when we saw Cain getting dropped flat on his face by Kongo and trailing off into sloppy decision.

Times have changed for both men.

It's true that both men have improved, but Werdum showed in the Nog fight that his improved stand-up isn't exactly flawless. He still has the same problem with pressuring fighters (ie. Arlovski, Bigfoot, Nog II) in the stand up, and there is no one who puts more pressure than Cain.

    Terrible match up for Werdum.

Bigfoot only won the standup in their fight for the first round after a crazy flurry, in both the 2nd and 3rd rounds Werdum won both the standup and on the ground.

Besides, Werdum has 4+ years of further training his standup at Kings so the comparison doesn't really mean much.

JDS and Cain would both KO him standing.

He cant take either one down so JDS will do what he does best and Cain wont want to mess with the BJJ of Werdum so he will do something similar to Cain-Nog and Cain-BF. crisp shots, in and out, quick end.

I don't like his chances against either but he has a slightly better chance at beating Cain in my opinion.

more like Werdum showed in the Nog fight that the long layoff affected him with the bad cardio displayed + he didn't look too good physically. he was looking good in the first round though.
