Well...I decided on buying a greens supplement

I use a green supplement everyday; honestly, I don't notice a difference if I take it or don't take it. I look at it like a multi-vitamin: it's insurance.

I've used a few different brands, including Green+. I actually didn't like Green+, it gave me the shits, no matter what I did with the dose. Right now, I'm using Costco's brand. Mixes nice, tastes fine, and has pretty much the same profile as Greens+, but at 1/3 the cost.

NOW makes top quality supplements. I haven't tried their brand, but I have no doubt it's a good product.

I definitely feel like I have more energy when I'm regularly taking a green supplement. but, like MikeMartial said, think of it as an awesome multivitamin.

I've been taking greens for about 8 months. I use the Green Phyto too and picked it because it was cheap and had most of the essential ingrediants in it.

I felt better the first five or six weeks I took it but I really don't notice much now. I use it to supplement my vegatable intake since I am on the grapplers diet requiring a vegatable with every meal. When I am at work it is easier to mix up some powder instead of taking in a quality vegatable.

Haha... the grappler's diet, eh? That's the first I've heard of this... what makes the grappler's diet different than any other healthy diet?

maybe i'm doing something wrong but i started using green+ (wild berry burst) and i've had problems with irregularity ever since i started. was a once a day sitter and now i am on the toilet every 2-3 days instead.

The Wild berry was what I tried, too. I usually have iron guts, so I was surprised at my...um, reaction. Could have been a bad bottle, or maybe I had some GI bug at the time. Greens+ may have a higher overall fiber content. Regardless, there's cheaper alternatives.

I need to actually correct myself----I was using Costco's brand on greens, with zero issues. Stuff seemed just fine. I actually am now using "VegeGreens" Blueberry medley made by Progressive Nutritional Therapies, a Canadian company out of Toronto. Tastes extactly like the Costco brand, which was cheaper. I'll probably switch back once this container is done.

I didn't know that costco had a brand on a greens supplement. Can you tell me the name of it? I searched on costco.com and didn't find it unless its that kiwi strawberry flavored one.

Godamn, I have to correct myself again. It's not actually "Costco's brand", but a brand I bought at Costco. Sorry about that.

It's called AllGreens, berry flavor, made by WN Pharmaceuticals, out of Burnaby, B.C.

Sounds like you need some more fiber...

For some people more fiber = more constipation.

It's a sensitive balance between fiber intake and hydration.

Thanks for the info. I live in California and costco doesn't sell any greens supplement over in my area.

Like Martial, I can't discern any overwhelming difference between when I'm taking it and not taking it. But I did notice, recently, after two separate runs after two comparatively long periods of inactivity (comparative to what I'm used to, that is), it hurt a shitload less for the run when I'd been on top of my diet, fish oil supplementation, and Greens+ supplementation. The other run was a punishment run for just lifting and eating not so well, and it hurt.

But that's hardly controlled. I'd nod to the food.

Oh, and Boondock, if you go with the NOW, you can buy it in a 2 lb size.

Shop.com sells the 10 oz size for $15, and the 2 lb (32 oz) size for $40. So I'd definitely spring for the 2 pounder.

You...are...welcome.

If I'm buying a single product, once I decide what I want, I always check the sites in my "Where to Buy Your Supplements" thread, then I check Froogle.

As always, thanks for the advice madmick. Never used Froogle...I'll have to check that out.

I'll place a vote for Greens+, but not the wild berry flavor. Just get the regular stuff, it really is not that bad, at least for my palate which make be desensitized from years of Weider and TwinLab protein shakes in the '80s. Haha.

Anyhow, I think most people choose Greens+ based upon taste; however, I like it for one other reason--it has a significant dose of phosphatidyl choline. PC is a potent precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. This is likely the reason that people "feel" so much differently when using it.

Having using Green Magma, Barleygreen, Perfect Food and several varieties of Greens+, the hands-down winner in terms of taste, profile, and "feel" is regular Greens+ powder.

I remember reading about PC as a possible supp. to block cortisol release---damn, this was back in the late 80's.

Maybe I'll have to re-visit Greens+. As the least, check the doseage of PC on other green supplements.
