Weird dreams from prescription cough syrup?

So I just got over a bout of Influenza I had over Christmas. I went to the urgent care the day after Christmas and they prescribed me Codeine cough syrup. I rarely take it when they prescribe it as I actually prefer this:

When the urgent care gave me this round of Codeine, I actually still had about 26 oz. left from when I was sick two years ago and my primary doctor prescribed it (I tossed out the old stuff so I wouldn't get it mixed up with the new stuff). I took one dose the night I got it, then went back to the Tylenol. But with the cold snap here in the Midwest, I took some of the codeine last night as I was a bit congested from shoveling snow for two days. Normally this doesn't happen but HOLY CRAP I had some freaky nightmares and dreams all night. First bout was about fighting off zombies (a common one for me), then about fighting the main Alien from the Alien franchise, then I think it was on to something with fat chicks but I don't remember this one as well.

I guess I've been spending too much time in P&M?

Anyone else ever have to take prescription cough syrup (besides to just get effed up)?

Not cough syrup, but just this past new years I bought one of those 4 packs of Monster energy drinks to stay up all night. I typically drink a few small cups of coffee at work throughout the day, but not big on the Rockstars or Monsters.

I had one Monster straight with no booze before I started drinking around 7 or 8pm. Then I had the other 3 mixed with booze, mainly vodka throughout the night. I also drank a few beers, and did some shots as well. I was at a buddies house party, most of the people had taxied home by 4am, but there was a few people left. I was crashing at his place, so went to the spare bed where I was crashing, and tried to sleep. It was such a weird state of mind - my body was tired but I just couldn't sleep. I was in the most effed up state of half-sleep ... and I was having the most ridiculous dreams. Every few minutes I'd snap out of it and tell myself it's just a dream, but I'd find myself right back in the dream seconds later. I don't even remember what they were about, but it was terrible.

Never again will I do that. It was more unpleasant than the worst hangovers I've had.

Some quick google research shows that a lot of the ingredients in enegry drinks (taurine, guarana, vitamin B, etc) can cause vivid/intense dreams... it was a really fucked up experience, more fucked up than magic mushrooms.

I used to sleep walk anytime i took certain medications... I would do random stuff too... one time we were down the beach and i found a laundry basket with all clean clothes and decided i had to turn them inside out and put them out on the outside deck. The clothes basket was in the laundry room the outside deck was in my parents room. So apparently i went into laundry room grabbed the basket went outside with the basket turned every piece of clothes inside out put them on the deck walked back into the kitchen and my mom had gotten up while i was in the kitchen and i was blocking the hallway to get back to the bedroom, not letting her get passed me and laughing at her...

Yeah I'm not fond of it myself and that's why normally it ends up going in the sink after it sits in the cabinet for so long. I might be flamed for it here, but I stick to the actual recommended dose of a teaspoon.

Lol yup. Cough syrup can really fuck you up, especially with codene. The DXM really gets you too.

I even texted my gf about it in the morning as soon as I woke up. Weird!
