I just graduated from OSU and will be moving around a ton for grad. school over the next 7 or so years. Anyways, I won't be able to make it to the gym all the time so I am looking at buying a weight vest for body weight workouts whenever necessary. I found some with free shipping here: V-Max Weight Vests - Ultimate Strength Training Weighted Vest but I really have no clue what I am doing in this area as far as finding quality goes. So if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. If not, I plan on buying the 50lbs short-style vest from V-Max.

If you just plan on doing things like weighted chins, weighted pullups, weighted pushups, weighted dips, weighted BW squats, etc., then I would just use a backpack and add weights. Even if you don't have weights, I would think buying 60 lbs worth of weights would be more beneficial then buying one vest. You can alter what weight you use, you can do grip work with the weight, etc.

I have the 50 pound weight vest and the 25 pound attachment from v-max. I love it; however, I don't use it that often. Only about once a week or so and mainly just for jump squats...

It fits very comfortably and is very high quality.

Perfect... just what I wanted to hear, thanks.

Buy a good one. I bought a cheap one at first, and it broke the first time I put it on...seriously. I bought the one from Strength-Systems, the same company that makes those Jump Shoe things. It works great.

I had the opportunity to make my own from an old bullet proof vest holder I had. Watch the stress on your knees though.

Wtf?

$120 for a weighted vest?

Fuck that shit. People go to extremes with some shit. This is worse than people from D&S spending like $300 a week on groceries because it's 100% organic grown in a back yard or some shit.

I'd rather just get a Jansport and stick random metal shit inside of it.

That's up to you. I use the vest for every part of my skill workouts except for sparring. The thing about the zip-up type of vests is that they are secure and tight. They dont flap around as I am working. Picture wearing a backpack with weight in it, and then throwing punches at a heavy bag or focus mitts. It would flop all over the place.

If you dont feel that it is worth the money, dont buy it, but I can promise you that your backpack idea is a poor one unless uou just plan on hiking with it or something.

the thought of weighted jumping squats makes my cartilage hurt.

Got my V-Max vest today... It seems to be an extremely durable and high quality vest.
