I posted this in the diet forum...not sure why, so Im reposting in the Stength and conditioning forum.

MY QUESTION IS: Does working out in the morning before eating, so your in a fastened state have added benefits like burning more fat? I've Heard Mixed things that it actually burns muscle instead of fat.

Are your lifting goals to get stronger or to burn more fat?

In any case, keep this in mind:

meh, I worked out in the morning for several months this year. Like eat breakfast, hit the gym an hour later to squat, DL, press. No problems with exploding discs.
When i used to do LSD cardio in the morning I would put a scoop of whey in water and drink it down with a 1000mg fish oil capsule. The fat and protein are supposed to stop you from burning muscle without causing an insulin response which is what prevents fat burning IIRC.
