How do you people do it

I've put on like 6 lbs in the last 2 months at this new job I've got. I'm solid and fit etc (although taking a time out from fighting so lost the good fitness), but it just goes on.

They wanted me to loose bloody 4 kg before....they're in for a shock when I tell them its closer to 8kg now

More of a rant, but if people have suggestions about what I can do (I will slap whoever says eat less fatty) I'm all for it

I have the same question as well. I am only in my summer job right now, but I put on some weight so far. I eat clean, train a few times a week in BJJ, but aside from not eating at all I don't know how to curb it haha.

ah yes a desk job...i've been doing it for a year now...probably put on a few pounds the first few months but my workouts also dropped off when i first started...make it a point to get away from your desk as much as possible it sounds kind of stupid but get up and talk to people as much as you can instead of calling them or sending an email...always take the stairs---everywhere you go not just at work - just basically find any excuse to walk around

some people in my office also sit on one of those 75cm inflatable core balls instead of a chair - i'm not sure how well this works though

Fuck I also find that I eat more at an office job. Usually by coffee time I am hungry for a snack, and starving by lunch. Yesterday I was doing physical work all day. Coffee I wasn't hungry at all and had just a small cup of water, and by lunch I wasn't even that hungry but I ate anyways. Weird how that works...

Get a ball that doesn't make a lot of noise and pass it back and forth between you and the person in the next cube. Or you can make up your own game and play by yourself.

When I was the last person in the office and had time to kill before getting off, I would turn on the rap music and start dribbling the ball.

Bring a dumbell to work and curl it when you're not too busy. Or stand up and punch air as long as possible. Just straight punches. Punching air is a work out. Do that for a minute straight and you'll be tired. Get a habit of bouncing your legs too. I do that all the time when I'm sitting. Gets annoying for the people sitting with me on a couch though. Get some of those hand exercising things that you squeeze. Don't know what they're called but I have a couple of them on my desk right now.

Do sprints on the stairs during your breaks.

Yea I used to exercise during break. I would go for a run or play basketball.

Ahh it really fucks up your routine

I gained like 40 pounds in two years of office job. It

Put on some weight when I switched to a desk job in December. What bugs me more is the lack of energy/strength I have at the end of the day. My labour job kept me strong and i had more energy.

Strap this beeyotch on and you'll be fine. 24hr workout.

I agree, same thing happened to me, and I anticipated the exact opposite. I figured I'd be more energetic and more motivated to train.

Funnily enough I've been using the fact that I'm in the middle of field in a converted barn as a excuse to get some runs in at lunch. We're a mile from the town so the other days I'll walk to there and back, but a hour of walking at lunch doesn't seem to make up for 7-8 hours of walking around like I used to in my old job

I know what you mean

I've only been here since may 14th and I seem to be more tired at the end of the day. I thought when I got it 'great, more time to relax and heal up when not training and make more money' (why else would anyone in their right mind do a desk job).
Jokes on me

Annoyingly enough I'm in a small office with 3 mid 30 - mid 40 year old women, so I feel like i'm becoming a women.

I'm actually eating less calorie wise I'm sure, so apart from the leg figetting I'm not sure what else I can do. I don't think they'd appreciate me shadow boxing some how

the best thing you can do is follow the 10 habits. most importantly:
- bring your own food
- don't eat anything you didn't bring (stay away from the donuts that the office brown-noser brought in, don't eat the cake at the birthday party, etc.)
- don't buy anything from a machine, ever
- keep some protein powder or protein bars in you desk for emergencies.

I'm with Sledge here, Ian. Nothing you can reasonably do at a desk job (either at your desk or on breaks) is going to equal the kind of exercise you get from a physical labor kind of job. About all you can do is tighten up your diet, and put in more effort in your workouts.

I'm also pretty sure that as long as you're regularly training muay thai, you can remain confident that your job is not going to turn you into a woman. Not even a female thai boxer. :)

the getting tired thing passes eventually...it does take a few months but eventually you will get the hang of your office diet and used to training afterward, i get so excited to leave the office and train i can barely sit still the last 45 minutes of the day - one huge advantage for me is the diet i'm able to keep up with because of the office job...bring in 2 chicken breasts - oats - protein shakes - gallons of milk - bulk vegetable packs - having a fridge, stove, and microwave at your disposal at work is a blessing

I've been working in an office job for the past 2.5 years and I'm in great shape man, so don't be worried.

Basically, I pretty much sit on my ass from 8:00 to 4:00 pm.

You pretty much want to concentrate on eating right and not working out while at an office job. First of all, you don't want to get real sweaty because if you are in an office job, you have to look good.

Things I do are as follows:

*I always bring my own food including protient powder and bars, and milk. I mix everything in our kitchen.
*I get up and walk around about once every hour or two.
*U can do small workouts that dont require much sweat, like ab exercises, etc. I bring a little thing called a Cross Crunch (got it from Wal-mart) that I use in my chair, I pretty much have a six-pack, lol...just use this baby like 3 times a day man, in ur office.
*Dont worry about bringing anything else in exercise wise...just concentrate on eating right mainly, while working your office job.
*I eat two snacks, drink a protein shake, and eat my lunch here...so prepare to bring a lot of food with you to work. NEVER EAT OUT, NEVER EVER.
*If someone brings some food to work with you, if you do decide to have some, have very little...it's kinda rude to turn something down, don't be afraid to if you must, but I always just have a tiny bit.

Finally, when I get home, I rest up for about 30 minutes, eat a protein bar, and start my work out.

I work out 4 times a week...I'm in very good shape now, hardly no fat at all (5'9" 175 pounds), and I work an office job 40/hrs week. So it is possible, u just gotta work very hard.

Oh, I forgot. I try to walk as much as I can so I get up and walk for whatever reason I can. Also, I do the leg shaking thing. It's not much, but it's some sort of activity. Also, I stretch frequently.
