I recall a story a while back, that when Weidman decided to dedicate a career to MMA and decided that MW would be the division he would contest that he knew he would inevitably meet Anderson Silva. Weidman's world class wrestling base blended with world class Jiu Jitsu and unorthodox stand up and underrated dirty boxing has proven to be the perfect combination in throwing the Spider of his game. I think anyone that says that Weidman's two defeats of the Spider we're the result of Silva beating himself may benefit from watching both fights and highlighting everything that Weidman done right in the fights and how it appeared to having an unsettling effect on Silva both fights, which led to him making the mistakes that led to his demise both times. Weidman may not be as quick as the spider but he judges distance and timing better then any of Silva's former opponents and has deceptive knockout power, and Silva was completely outclassed on the ground by Weidman both times. On an end note Anderson Silva has provided us the fans with some of our greatest mma moments, he he along with men like GSP, Aldo, Barao, Cruz Faber, Jones and the list goes on have revolutionized MMA and made it what it is today, if his career is really over it is a cruel way to go out.

Silva is already talking about training and coming back. Silva never gave into his can opener and didnt let him pass his guard. He also landed some good shots from the bottom. I still give a 10-8 to Weidman though. He deserves all the credit in the world. I would still love to see these guys fight again as the 2nd fight didnt prove anything TO ME except Silva lost a round.

i stopped reading when you called his standup unorthodox

weidman has not done the olympics, hard to say he with certainty he is world class. he failed on his takedown attempt, and got him down on that right hand in the clinch. Weidman is good in BJJ, not world class though. He never passed andersons or Maias guard.
Do you have anything to say that based on fact and not something that Joe Rogan said during the telecast?
Staying in someones guard is not outclassing the,.Generally, for that too happen, you need to dominate position and/or get a submission.

Hahahahaha, yeah he didn't like beat 9 other guys or anything.

I see you got a bunch of haters in here. But yeah, his style is pretty much tailor made to beat Anderson.

I wonder how long this forum will stay hilarious like this in terms of denial

Weidman's style is "beat the out-of-prime champ on his way out while you are 10 years his junior with 1 third of the fights."

Silva needs to threaten that armbar when getting can opener'd like Vitor did vs Jones. His BJJ is great defensively because he really keeps ppl broken down but he doesnt attack much more than triangles.

I honestly think Vitor will armbar Chris if he tries that stuff vs him but i think Chris is smart enough not to.

lol, funny how Silva was in his prime and only getting better after he whooped Chael and Bonnar at 38 but is all of a sudden 38 and over the hill when he is the one getting beat by Weidman, typical Sherdog logic.

You call that a 10-8? no wonder mma judging is so screwy.

Due to the flukey nature of both fights, idiots have to resort to exaggerating Weidman's performance as though the cumulative scoring of rounds proves anything definitively.

They were acting like round one of the first fight was a 10/8 so I guess round one of the second fight was a 10/7 and if they fight again we will see the first 10/4.

10-8 is just over the top round one of the 1st fight was Weidmans but only 10-9 and for obvious reasons, the same for the second fight.
