Weidmans striking looks so slow and unassuming. But when he connects he inflicts devastating damage, even with a short punch from the clinch. He reminds me of guys like Chris Leben and Shane Carwin who can somehow generate crazy force with slow punches and with little wind-up.

There is no doubt in my mind that Chris is a strong dude. Much stronger than he looks.

I don't think there's anything deceptive about it. The guy manhandles everyone he faces. Dude is a powerhouse.

Chris throws really good hooks with both Hands, first
Fight he koed Andy with a left and now this fight when he hit Andy with the right hook you seen his eyes close, he was Rocked Lets just say Weidman has some devastating hooks and elbows

He has a lot of power, sure, but the punch in the clinch you are referring to went straight to Anderson's back of the ear. Anyone who gets caught at that spot will immediately lose balance and either go down or be very wobbly.

he's smart, he picks his punches well, has some of the best reactions in the ufc, rarely makes huge mistakes, and consistently was first in this 2nd fight, like the first fight. weidman doesnt just have power, he's also got great anticipation and underrated speed which is helped by that

but it'll take finishing vitor to get him real credit, and thats fine because i see no way that vitor can survive with weidman

It doesn't seem like he gets a lot of torque in some of his strikes but he still puts dudes down lol

yeah, weidman showed a good reaction and strength to get that punch off and land it cleanly

He looks pretty fucking strong.

The most underrated part of Weidman's game is his defense... he also has great timing and composure. He realized he wasn't going to get the stoppage in the 1st and he conserved his energy. Weidman has the mentality of a champion.

I think the second GOAT middleweight champ will give us a lot of awesome KO highlights, and I can't wait for them. There are a lot of great match-ups for Chris and Vitor will be a good challenge for him.

He doesn't have big speed but man he just seems to hurt people bad after a few shots.

The reason the way Cain v JDS 1 ended the way it did.

I think Weidman does hit hard... but I also think Anderson has lost his ability to absorb shots... I think he's going through what Chuck Liddell did at about this point in his career. Weidman KO'ing Anderson, to me, is a lot like Franklin KOing Chuck... I don't think either things would've happened earlier in their respective careers.

The difference is that Chucks Chin was cracked before Franklin. Weidman was the one who cracked Anderson's chin.

Wrestlers often look like average humans, however the functional strength they have is wicked.

Agreed, Sonnen was also able to wobble Anderson....and that's saying a lot. But still though, the Munoz and Hall fights demonstrated that taking a flush shot from Weidman is bad for your career.

What he lacks in speed he makes up with incredible timing.

The fight with Vitor will be great.

I keep hearing people say he looks slow, I don't see it, he looked quicker than Anderson on the feet in both fights. He might not be physically fast but he has some of the best timing and distance control in the division which means he lands first and more often.
