Anyone else more interested in Chris Weidman vs Anderson Silva 3, instead of Weidman vs Omari Akhmedov that’s set for August. You could still make the Silva rematch afterwards (win or loss) so there is that availability but both are (unless Chris pulls off a one sided return to form) near the end so it feels like the logical match up

Both are shot. But Chris loses via naptime everytime now.

Gotta pick Anderson

Weidman is one of the only MW who doesn't respect Silva's striking, and it worked well the first two times. Weidman by KO.

I wouldn't say instead, but I think Silva vs Weidman 3 would be fun if only for the history the two share. Say something exciting/interesting happened in the fight, even better. I think it would drum up a lot of discussion even if they're both past their prime now. I have a feeling the UFC wouldn't be open to it, but what is there to lose with matching them up now?

There's no reason for these two to fight again. Silva lost twice by stoppage to Chris, he wasn't really winning either fight before the stoppage came.

They should both probably call it quits though

After all the money Silva has made for the UFC, I really don't see an issue with the guy trying to get one over on Weidman one final time. He lost the first time definitively. That second time wasn't the way you would want it to end for either guy. They are also both pretty equal at where they are at in their careers now

Hell yes, put it on the card with Arlovski/Sylvia 5, Rampage/Silva 4, Tito/Shamrock 4, then the first Couture/Emelianenko bout to keep it fresh.

Maybe have a monkey fight a squirrel in a fish tank during the prelims.

The only people who want this fight are Silva fans, and listening to them is going to get their guy killed.

Even with Weidmans glass chin, i think he'd just grapplefuck Silva. Give Silva some unranked striker please, i honestly think he just wants a win so he can go out on a high note.

I completely disagree. Silva - Weidman 3 is the only fight of any consequence that makes perfect sense for both fighters.

Silva gets a chance at redemption to avenge two flukey losses, and would likely be the favorite to win - can you say that about any other known MW/LHW in the UFC he could face? It isn't a complete joke like fighting McGregor or Pettis. Sure Weidman has declined, but so has Silva, and I'm sure Silva won't put an asterisk next to the win.

Weidman gets a chance to be relevant again, and get a payday (maybe). He has a real chance to beat Silva again for a 3rd time, what other known MW/LHW can you predict him to beat really? Rather than fighting a complete unknown / possibly upcoming prospect and being fed to the dogs, Weidman can go out with some semblance of a win that historically matters.

That would be my proposal and then Dana would probably just put on a burger king hat and call me gay or something, more or less.

Anderson is old. Losing to an inside low kick is time to call it quits.

Fair enough, but Chris Weidman could get knocked out by a pool noodle to the head at this point too. Neither should be fighting, but both are.

Plus I see your end game here, you don't want Silva to surpass Fedor on the all-time list with a signature win and avenging victory over former MW champion Chris "That's my Son" Weidman.

<NoneOfMy>

Anderson Silva could deliver a baby and swallow a grenade to save a family of refugees and he wont surpass Fedor's first day of kindergarten, bud.
