Weidman may not seem as fast as some of the MW's in the UFC but he has great reaction time and great counter timing, maybe the best in the division?

Definitely one of the best in the division in that respect and he knows distance very well.

Yeah he has great timing with his strikes/takedowns. He seems to be a quick learner in the standup game.

He is so good at gauging his opponents distance and staying out of the range of their power shots.

Pretty much. Timing and fight IQ is pretty off the charts for this guy, I have to admit now.

but the real question guys is do you think he's the best? I think machida has great timing but I think weidman has would neutralize his striking with his, what do you guys think?

I don't think he meant to throw that elbow, it was just reaction.
Hurr hurr hurrrrr...
Yeah, great reactions/reflexes. He's still somewhat of a question mark. Win or lose I'm really looking forward to his next few fights. (I hope win)

We'll see how good his timing&speed are against Vitor.. Other than win against GOAT in the 1st match (which deserves nothing but respect), he did not fight anybody else from the top 5. He beat Maya (not even top 10 at that time), and Munoz (definitely NOT top 5). He still has lot to prove.

IMO Weidman has average speed at MW.

I said this on a thread somewhere nineteen UFC162 and UFC168 and a few people called me an idiot basically.

Hmm except by the ranking systems I looked up a couple months ago Maia was #8 I believe and Munoz #4 OR #5. Correct me if I'm wrong with links...

I think Machida has better timing but I still think it would be hard to outstrike Chris because of the threat of his wrestling. Definitely the fight I want to see most for the division.

I agree with you somewhat.

Weidman was the smallest underdog Silva faced in a while because his style is so Anti-Silva.
He proved that Anderson did indeed have a few weak points amd he exposed him in both fightsn which was expected somewhat.

Weidman looked amazing against Munoz, but Munoz also looked like total shit and starting feeling with serious depression which eventually made him a fat guy.

Weidman is beast and I expect him to answer a lot of questions in his next few fights and be as dominant as they come but for now he hasn't proven much compared to what hes going to prove.

I think Vitor may be the toughest fight for him in the division just based on Vitors quickness, and the fact that his wrestling defense has improved drastically since training with Blackzillians. If you watch his Jon Jones fight, you get a different opinion, but I don't like Vitor at 205. Looks too big and slow for the top tier guys. At 185, he's a savage, and if he can avoid the takedown for a round or two, than Vitors got as good a chance as anyone to test Weidman. If this goes back 2-3 rounds though, I see him gassing, and don't think he can win, as Vitor has never won a decision over a top 10 fighter (granted most fights don't go to decision), and I don't think many would disagree with this
