I came across a website that is free to use and it has nutritional information for 1000's of food items.

My favorite part is I can select from their items EXACTLY what I eat in a day and it will tell me how many calories I ate, and the protein/carb/fat ratio as well. By knowing this information, you can adjust your calorie intake accordingly to gain, lose, or maintain your current weight.

If some of the calories you consume in a day come from....say...supplements...you can add your own foods to the list of what you ate. Have your tub of protein with you and just fill in the blanks on the website (calories, fat, sat fat, cholest, protein, vitamins, etc...there is room to upload all of that). And if you aren't happy with their selection of brown rice, chicken, oatmeal, WHATEVER, you can go crazy and take the exact brands you have at home and just plug those numbers into the website. Talk about accurate.

A few other things I discovered on the site: There is a page to enter your activity level. It has everything from biking and running, to boxing (you can specify punching bag, sparring, or actual fighting), to sexual activity (vigorous, moderate, low level) then you enter the time you did these things and it will tell you the approx calories you burned.

It also has reports you can look at. After you enter the food items you eat, you can go to reports and see where you are compared to your daily vitamin and mineral requirements, protein, carbs, fat...whatever you want to look at. You can enter your own personal goals, like if you're going for 1gram of protein per pound of body weight...you can enter that as your goal and after you enter your foods for the day it will tell you where you are at compared to your goal.

This site is really amazing and has just about everything covered.

Again, it is free to sign up (much like signing up for a free email account, or Sherdog).

Yeah, I got one, I never use it.

Waste of $100.

Edit: I actually have the transportable calculator like gizmo that you can take on the run. It's called a Nutricounter. Still don't use it. I guess this is useful if you're just getting started and familiarizing yourself with calorie counts.

Some issues here:

-I don't believe there is any place to enter in "sugars".

-It doesn't have the correct info for a bowl of friggin TOTAL cereal.

-It says one single leaf of spinach is 2 calories. It says one CUP of spinach is only 6 calories. Am I missing something? Is one cup of spinach only 3 spinach leaves? Do the math. Something doesn't sound right.

-I don't believe I can enter ALL the foods I eat at once, so I can just go back and choose what I've eaten in a particular day each day. So now, every day, I will need to pull all this shit out of my fridge if I decide to eat a different food other than I ate today and enter in the info off of the label.

-Can one hardboiled egg white be only 16 calories and only 3 grams of protien?

Anyway, I've made my fitday profile public, here's the link:

I am eating fewer calories than I thought I was. Less than 1,200 today...
