We need to stop defending the poor striking in MMA

MMA fighters have poor striking offense and defense skills.

Bad head movement, suck at maintaining distance, fighters don't know how to transfer weight to their punches.

The fight between Floyd and Conor was a great example for this. The touch of death guy from MMA couldn't even leave a mark on Floyd, and the pillow fisted boxer managed to stop him

The excuse has always been it's because they need to defend against take downs, kicks etc etc.

But can't we just develop a system where you can defend against these things and still have good striking?

As long as we don't no one will take MMA seriously

Conor was 0-0 boxer. He did better than expected.

MMA has too many things around to master, so no element will be every at highest level.

When Werdum was focusing mainly on grappling, he was one of the greatest in the world at grappling.

When he spends shitload of time on striking, guys like Hunt of Reem can easily stall and survive on the ground with him....

That's the way it goes.

Basically.

It's like some people expect mma-strikers to have great boxing, while at the same time being BJJ experts, kickboxing experts and elite wrestlers.

MMA fighters should change their approach based on what happened in a different sport

McGregor proved to be a great striker by doing so well in his first professional boxing fight.

Conor did a fantastic job....of getting his shit pushed in, prison style, and looking like a hipster bitch who will be serving coffee and napkins in 2 years just so he can raise Artem's baby.

Perhaps.

Doesn't change the fact that if Floyd has tried MMA just like that, knowing that he's about to fight maybe few months before the fact, he would get ruined UFC 1 style.

Way worse than Conor.

Too many dimensions where he's clueless to even try to cover in few months.

Which is the whole point.

I think we should all take it easy with this comparison between boxing and mma striking, different sports - thats it. If you gonna stand in traditional boxing stance you gonna be taken down of have tour leg chopped off in MMA. Or mma guy will have your back, just like we saw at maymac, but then there will be no ref to save you.
No sense in comparing aples to oranges

A MMA fighter needs to have perfect BJJ, Boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, kung fu, soccer, football game.
MMA>>>>>>>>>Boxing in a real fight, all day.

Reality says otherwise.

Well, i guess that the dude you're responding to means "striker" as in "all kinds of strikes allowed". In which case it's probably reasonable to call Conor the better striker.

MMA is still at its infancy stage. In 20 years the average MMArtist will be throwing smooth spinning back kicks after 1-2 punches but for now it's a bunch of D level athletes fighting scrappy.

The fools running this gig need to increase fighter pay because why would any real athlete want to risk long term brain damage for a janitors salary

Then explain why he was getting lit up by someone 3 times smaller and almost twice his age?

Does Conor make a janitors salary?

MMA really has the worst, dumbest fans.
MMA striking and boxing is not the same. A traditional boxing stance would NOT work in an MMA match. You can't move in a boxing match like you would in an MMA match because you would get your head kicked or taken down.
Fake ass fans

What surprised me more is how little damage Conors punches produced. Floyd wasnt even phased by clean uppercut in round 1.

Nope. Only an utterly deluded person would think Floyd, whose style has been handcrafted to take advantage of every rule and limitation of boxing, is a better striker than Conor.
Well all I saw was Floyd toying with Conor, similar how Anderson Silva did to his opponents, but then sit on the stool in between rounds with a smile on his face. Conor looked like he was having a heart attack. Then Floyd bounced Conor's head all over the ring until Conor and his corner begged with all mercy to make it stop. 50-0 bitch.
