We need 195 pounds weight class.

Dear god.. more weightclasses? Because we want Weidman or Luke or Romero to duck mw and LHW?

Give Weidman the chance to adapt his body at 195 and then he will beat Jones and be a 3 div champ with ease.

Jon Jones pulsing on diuretics takes that belt easily

First, we need to eliminate weight cutting via hydration testing so people actually fight at their weight.

Then, we need to just redefine the weight classes slightly based on 8% increments starting at featherweight:

145 and under: Featherweight
145.1 to 156.6: Lightweight
156.7 to 170: Welterweight
170.1 to 183.6: Middleweight
183.7 to 198.2: Light Heavyweight
198.3 to 214: Cruiserweight
214.1 and higher, no upper limit: Heavyweight

They can't get any depth as it is from 185-265, its pointless to spread the increments equally even though there is half the depth up top.

fighters currently signed / weight division

46 - 265lbs
49 - 205lbs
61 - 185lbs
86 - 170lbs
88 - 155lbs
72 - 145lbs
80 - 135lbs

If you add a 165lbs division, you would end up with an average of 58 guys in each of 155/165/175, which would STILL be more depth then 205/265.

Feels bit redundant, doesn't it? 185-195-205

It's even more stupid to have 165 pounds weight class.

155-165-170

Fighters who can't cut it at either weight classes want that weight class. But it's stupid af. It would be like flyweight where they can fight at both at that weight class and weight class above, but even more useless because of 5 pounds difference between 165 and 170.

I think most people that advocate for a 165 lb weight class, support moving 170 to 175. Then it is a 10-pound spread between all weight classes up to 185.

They should remove weight classes not add more

it should be

150, 175, 200, 225 (maybe) n 275

it would be pointless making 165 as there’s already well established 170 division.

anybody asking for 165 can easily fight at 170

165 is being requested by gate keepers who can’t cut it in 155 n 170

145 - 170 Lightweight
171 - 205 Middleweight
206 - 265 Heavyweight.
I just fixed the ufc you are welcome.

No that would be perfect

you choose your class n stick with it

none of that weight class hopping by gatekeepers

The problem is a ton of fighters (great ones at that) would be caught in between weight classes. You know how many guys would be too big for 150 and too small for 175? That’s a massive gap especially for the lighter classes.

Come on this has been known for years. What you’re suggesting was somewhat how it was at one time, but it had to change as the sport evolved. It wasn’t working anymore.

It's not that tough. If they want to add 1 weight class, just reorganize them and do it by % of weight. Then it's fair. Take 1.08x previous weight and then round it a bit to make sense

125 - FlyW
135 - BW
146 - FW
157 - LW
170 - WW
183 - MW
198 - LHW
215 - CruiserW
215+ - HW

This makes sense, except I don't see the need for a Cruiserweight division. Make heavyweight 199+ and it makes perfect sense.

I'm still up for pushing 170 up to 175, and adding 165, and 195. The inconsistency between weight classes is kind of bad. Would make a weight class every 10 lbs for some nice symmetry. Also, either lift the cap of HW, or at the very least bump it up to like 275 or 285,

tough luck. Should a weight class be made everytime a gatekeeper can’t cut it any more?

look at Aldo

too small for 145, but too big for 135. Should 140 class be made to accommodate him?

Having more space between weight classes will also discourage massive weight cuts.

fighters would have to stay closer within their weight class instead of attempting those massive cuts.

if you make 165 most 170 will just cut more to make 165 instead of fighting at 170 or 175.

also making 165 would defeat the purpose of weight classes

weight classes are there so a smaller guy can compete as well. Not give Conor or another fighter possibility to be triple champ.

If a fighter can be competitive in more than one weight class (will be the case with addition of 165) then that weight class is useless

The weight classes are fine as they are. They should consider eliminating Men's 125, and the Women's 145 divisions. Do not need more. We do not need to accomodate people who are stuck in the middle of weight classes (165 or 195). They should learn to bulk up or cut weight properly.

Well, tough luck for the fans and the sport as a whole too then I guess....

Gatekeepers? No I don’t know why you said that. I want to see the best fighters at their best competing against the best competition. That’s not going to happen with that system.
