Wayward Pines S2 Discussion

Anyone else started season 2?

I have. And I have to say, I'm worried. I enjoyed season one quite a bit and felt like it was a show that wasn't getting the credit it deserved.

This season, or at least the first episode, definitely feel like it's missing something. Perhaps it's just going to take some time for the story to come together, but the sense of intrigue that S1 had thus far is all but lost.

Plus, whoever this doctor guy is seems to be a poor replacement for Matt Dillon.

Here's what I thought of the first episode:

Wayward Pines season 2 premiere was so-so. Will continue to watch. Part of what made season one so interesting was the mystery and the big reveal. We'll see if season two can excel without those elements.

Sucks they had to kill Carla Gugino.

Here's what I thought of the first episode:

Short and to the point, I see. But I pretty much agree. I'm hoping they'll find a way to infuse a sense of mystery into this season, but at this point it just feels uninspired.

And agreed on Carla. I wonder what that was even about?

Watched season one and enjoyed it. Didn't know season two has started. Thanks! I think...!

I agree with the assessment that the doctor isn't a good replacement for Matt Dillon, however I enjoyed the premiere. The pace was a lot quicker compared to the first season, no build up and straight to the point.

Not surprised Carla's character died, she was a special guest star and she's on a new show, so I saw it coming. It's a shame though.

How did the first season end? I watched the first few episodes but I can never keep track of tv shows.

I didn't realize it started already. i'll get on it, I like the first season a lot.

I was disappointed with the first episode.

First off the son of Matt Dillon was the most annoying character in season one and I was hoping he'd get killed at some point and now we find out he's the Jon Conor of Wayward Pines. I hope its all a misdirect and he gets eaten alive in episode two.

My other big complaint is the leader of the town just doesn't seem to be all that menacing. Like if I meet him in real life I'd probably bitch slap him then tell him to stfu and take a seat.

Ice cream man seems like he could be a good character, hopefully he gets more screen time.

The only direction i see this show taking other then internal strife is there somehow being some humans outside the fence and we get some sort of quasi "the 100"

idk I'll continue watching, the summer season is always dry when it comes to shows.

The pace IS quicker and honestly I'm not sure that's a good thing. S1 was all about the slowly unraveling mystery and the tension and the mood and I'm just not feeling much of that in this premiere.

But we'll see where it goes.

That makes sense about Carla having a new show. I assumed something like that was going on.

Good points all around.

And I agree about the characters. Dillon, Carla, Tobey Jones as Pilcher, Melissa Leo as the nurse lady. . . These were GOOD fucking characters.

I'm just not seeing any of that this season, at least not so far. It basically just seems to be a bunch of wet-behind-the-ears punks and the doctor guy, all of which are pretty bland.

All right, just finished ep 2.

I'm still wary about this season. Is it BAD? I wouldn't say that. But it does feel uninspired and it doesn't have that certain something that season one had that made it successful.

I'll check out ep 3 but right now I'm not feeling like it's guaranteed that I'll be finishing this one. I'm kind of feeling like it's a one season wonder.

This show had one season special written all over it. I'm really surprised it was brought back after they killed off the best characters. I'm not really feeling the hitler youth vibe this season has, but I'm cautiously optimistic. It has reminded me how much I really want an Iltis as a weekend fuck around toy.

The show was originally designed as a 10 ep mini-series. They only decided to do a S2 after the first season became something of a hit. They might should've just follow their original instincts and quit while they were ahead.

I read the first book. season 1 had a completely different ending from the book. book was much better. I think their are 3 books in the series. the second season is not where book one would be going.

4 episodes in and i'm done with the show, can't take it anymore.

The plot twist (and I say that loosely) is coming together nicely. I'm starting to like the Dr. but I'm not interested in the love fling at all.

My biggest gripe is Jason Higgins. He brings the show down into the dirt. His rationale makes zero sense even when experts of their craft are presenting hard evidence of what's really going on.

Had the show been more about group survival as a team against impending odds rather than a tyrannical leader acting like a child, it could have been much better. There was so much potential to work off of season 1.

My current letdown of 2016 :/

My wife and I LOVED the first season.

My wife and I couldn't finish the first episode of season 2. Should we try again?
