2 is my favorite of the franchise (love the plotline with Joss Ackland as the villain- DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY) but the original is a classic.

Hell, rare franchise where all four movies are entertaining.
I thought the second was a little grittier as well especially in the end

Riggs is gd psycho in that movie. The part where he drags the suicidal jumper with him off the edge had me rolling lol

Funny enough the book ending is different to the film. Riggs quits the police and I think he ends up counselling kids at Murtaughs church as a martial arts instructor.

Correct. You also get more backstory about the Mercs; one of them was ex-IRA, for example. And there's a whole chapter about Riggs racing two other cops to Vegas as a bet.

The film itself nearly had a very different ending, as Riggs was originally going to retire and move away from LA.

The movie is GOAT-level, with some of the best dialogue of Mel's career.

Riggs, "I do it real good, you know?"

Murtaugh, "What?"

Riggs, "When I was nineteen, I did a guy in Laos from a thousand yards out...head shot in a high wind. Maybe nine or ten people in the world could have made that shot.

It's the only thing I was ever any good at".

And my personal favourite,

Murtaugh, "God hates me, that's what it is"

Riggs, "Hate him back, it works for me".

I'm going to have to dig my box set out and see if there's any clips I've never seen.

Same with the book , been years since I read it , time to revisit it...

Very good movie. I enjoyed it a lot. It's no where near as good as Die Hard but it was very good. I'll have to find the sequel now to watch sometime.

8/10

Next movie up:

North by Northwest by Alfred Hitchcock. I've never seen this movie either and it's highly rated.

I prefer watching Lethal Weapon in December and over the Christmas holiday. All of the mama's boys would pick Die Hard in a poll though. Sadly.

This dude is in both of 'em. Man, he's getting ready to steal that Crunch bar... Ruthless.

Here he is, enjoying his ill-gotten gain.

First time I saw Lethal Weapon was at a friends house in 1996. His VCR had a slow motion button and mine at home didn’t. This feature came in handy during that nude scene.

Stop. Stop. Stop.

Not as good as Die Hard? You need to rewatch it already buddy. What did you have an extra long piss break or something? Learn some respect. You are not ready to progress on yet.

It has Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Gary Busey, Gary Busey's teeth, an unknown Steve Buscemi in the background, Al Leong gets a talking role, written by Shane Black (whilst he was in the jungle filming Predator), the introduction of BJJ, titties, it's an 80s buddy cop movie, it's funny, there's a chick in it making video tapes...pornographic video tapes.

Die Hard is good but it's only got Willis, Rickman, some Euro terrorists (yawn), Reginald Vehohansonsonsonsonson, Robert Davi, a couple of funny lines and some steyrs getting fired for the first time in movies and ....no titties.

you young whipper snappers need to learn to eat your damn vegetables and appreciate
