After the 3rd round when the fighters go back to their corners, Barao's coach tells him repeatedly "Striking isn't working. I'm gonna need you to tie up with him and clinch with him. Take him down. Do you feel strong in the clinch?" Barao ignores him and asks for water, and he asks twice more "Do you feel strong in the clinch?" and Barao says no, and the coach repeats "No?"

Thought it was interesting

What's interesting? That coach doesn't comprehend the word No? It's not exactly a place he should feel very comfortable in this particular match up.

The part where the coach tells the fighter that plan A (striking) isn't working, and the fighter flat out saying he doesn't have the advantage in the alternative (tying up and clinching/grappling) was the interesting part to me

Most would be confident and say yes even if they really didn't. Barao was just straight up like "Nah, man. That won't work. I'm kinda screwed"

Barao is going to take him down and submit him

nope.

Yeah I noticed that too. He definitely didn't seem very confident in that fight, but I wouldn't be confident either if I was getting beat like that.
I'm sure he'll be bringing all he's got this time though.
Re watching the fight I noticed Barao took like 5 flush full power left kicks to the jaw. Dude has a serious chin on him.

Yeah he's durable as all hell. Both of TJ's last 2 opponents (Barao and Easton) are durable as hell. a lot of other guys would have been stopped, and sooner.

That kick coming from the left side is nasty, he landed it a ton, makes me wonder how Barao is going to counter that? it was money in the first fight.

Barao is certainly a tough dude, that initial kick would have flatlined lesser fighters, also that overhand right in the first round was brutal as well.

both his coaches and him have admitted that he wasn't even aware of what was going on for the most part.

he was concussed, and just fighting with heart. not relevant at all IMO.

I think GIF shows one big error Barao was making.

He took tha kick from TJ, he seemed OK, he took the next punch, he seemed OKish, and then instead of covering and getting out of there (or shooting) he stands and throws back while not 100% balanced, then TJ lands the better shots and Renan goes down.
This was I think the only time TJ knocked Barao down this way, but that same kind of exchanges happened quiet a bit.

Pretty sure Barao was unconscious after the first round. He does have a helluva chin to be able to take a beating like that for almost full 5 rounds

Im getting pretty excited for his fight! Hope Barao returns the favour with a nice knockout

I think Dillashaw takes it again. Barao is no joke, obviously and could take this time, but TJ took advantage of of Renan's lack of movement and I think it will happen again

TJ threw it a lot in his previous fights, which makes me think Barao didn't watch very many of his fights.

I haven't seen this since that night and last I checked, it wasn't on fight pass.
