Watching and ranking every Bond: No time to die (review)

I've only seen the Craig ones except the new one and parts of the brosnon ones.

I recently watched Dr. No. It was decent but very of its time. I know Russia with love is supposed to be good so I'll watch that. But I think I'd rather just watch the ones you guys recommend or at least the best ones for each actor.

I guess what I'm really asking is which ones can I skip?
Dr. No remains-- just like Ursula Andress in that bikini-- the most overrated movie in the history of the franchise. I'm grateful it was a hit that launched the franchise, but I've never understood the praise.

Bond's Greatest Hits, Chronologically
  1. From Russia with Love has one of the best three love interests (alongside On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Casino Royale). I think it's a touch overrated, but it's still belongs in any "Greatest Hits" Bond collection.
  2. Goldfinger has the most interesting criminal mastermind plan, and maybe the most beloved henchman in the history of the franchise in Oddball.
  3. Thunderball is great because of the locations and underwater scenes (that Connery hated, and that nearly got him killed/mauled). I also adore the Rocket suit, and I think it was Felix's first appearance. My second favorite Connery film behind Goldfinger.
  4. On Her Majesty's Secret Service has the weakest Bond, but the best script/story in the whole franchise.
  5. The Spy Who Loved Me is arguably the most influential spy thriller in history in terms of defining what the subgenre is, and how it has been spoofed or copied (ex. Spies Like Us).
  6. Goldeneye has easily the greatest Bond supervillain ever.
  7. Casino Royale is the greatest Bond movie made.
  8. Skyfall has aged very well.

Dalton was a fantastic Bond, but his movies aren't worth watching except to see a young Benicio Del Toro as an unsung and uncharacteristically unexaggerated crime world henchman.

great post

Really enjoyed Skyfall, and then Spectre was a let down. Curious about this new one but heard mixed reviews

In order

1. Goldfinger. Connery
2. Casino Royale. Craig
3. Golden Eye. Brosnan
4. Skyfall. Craig
5. For your eyes only. Moore

I finished the original run of connery films. I'd rank them

4. Dr. No
3. Thunderball
2. From Russia with love/goldfinger (tie)
1. You only live twice

I'm guessing it's not gonna be popular to have you only live twice at number 1. But I just enjoyed how fast paced and over the top it was. Yes one part of the movie is definitely dated and wouldn't fly today.

Looking forward to her majesties secret service

Fun movies. Similar formula each time but I don't mind it.

Bond must've survived being killed at point blank range 20 times.

I don't remember if I've seen you only live twice

I've never enjoyed the bond films until Craig took over. Even then I only like the first two. Can't even remember what the others were about.

International Man Of Mystery, The Spy Who Shagged Me & Goldmember.
