he was blocking/dodging all of Luke's punches and he was doing it was ease. and Rockhold is no slouch.

too bad he's 40. imagine if he was 25 or 30. he'd go on Anderson Silva type reign

needs to learn how to check leg kicks tho

Yeah his defense was great to watch and did it with style. He’s such an unpredictable guy.

He did start checking Luke’s kicks, which is why Luke stopped throwing them. Luke cut himself on Romero’s leg.

His parries where godlike, at one point he wiped the sweat from both eyebrows with his finger need to find a gif of that, guys confidence is crazy.

Almost like he was doing a cross-over defence thing (think George Foreman in his later years, Joe Frazier) at times.

I was surprised at how good his boxing defense was. I'm sure he trains with Cuban amatuer champions

Uh... he got jabbed the fuck up. And ended up being carried out from kicks.

Yeah he did make it look easy. Luke looked like he was sparring imo.

He checked a lot of the low kicks and the reason a lot of the jabs got in was because he was putting his hands in position to block a high kick, basically letting Luke know that he was ready for him to fake a low kick and go up high, which Luke attempted (half-assed) a couple times.

Please tell me how his striking defense is bad from getting a bad stinger from a defensive move and getting jabbed a hand-full of times? He had barely a mark on his face after the fight.

Romero's elite striking defense consists of raising the roof and not striking. He is an elite wrestler with excellent power he rely's on " catching " his opponents if he can not dominate them with Olympic level wrestling .

<LordRoose> You impress very easily.

outboxed Luke on one leg. Parried punches with 4oz gloves. it was awesome.

Name 5 better boxers.

Conor McGregor, JDS, Vitor Belfort, Holly Holm, Nate Diaz, Mark Hunt, TJ Dillashaw, Stipe Miocic, Gegard Mousasi, etc. The list goes on, and on and on. They all have better fundamentals, let alone many having better speed / power.

I impress very easily? Please point out where I was gushing over his defense? I was simply telling you I disagree with you basically asserting that he has shit defense and was carried out of the cage as a physical wreck from being leg kicked and jabbed to oblivion.

I myself never called Yoel an elite striker but he is certainly effective in his striking. Criticize all you want, my friend, I'm not even a big fan of Romero but have to say that he is putting together a respectable body of work the past 3 or so years.

Everything I said was factual. And I have gave Romero credit for having exellent wrestling and power. I never said he had " shit " defense. My point is that he relys on catching his opponents and doesn't have a high work rate and we already saw that he can be wrangled by basic boxing footwork and wrestling defense in the Bobby Knuckles fight.

I made my points where is yours ??
