Was the 'Who Here Has The Guts To Post Their Pic' thread a bad thing?

I've noticed over the last week or so posters referencing seeing another poster's picture as a valid reason to dismiss their opinion or compliment them. I've even caught myself going to and checking that thread.

Do you think this is a bad thing? Or do you think seeing what someone looks like helps form a better opinion of their views?

I don't think so - in many ways, I feel alot more connected with Mayberry users because of the thread.

I think the people who are using the thread in a malicious way towards other posters are always going to find a way to be an asshole.

I think Mayberry has gotten better because of that thread, it put faces to names and humanized those who contributed.

Ridicule was bound to spill out of it, but I don't recall any negativity occurring in the thread itself.

Yeah, a few other posters hit on this. People were going to find ways to be a jerk, grasping for whatever straws that they can.

Overall, I think the thread was a good idea for most people. You never know how you might make someone feel connected, you know?
