Although the UFC had better champs in each division of the 2010’s, the multiple organizations of the 2000’s and the way they organized it was more entertaining. The 2010’s was mainly the UFC, Bellator and towards the end of the decade OneFC.

    2000’s highlights:
    UFC
    - Anderson Silva, BJ Penn, GSP become champs of their weight divisions.
    - Matt Hughes dominance before passing the torch to GSP
    - Tito and Chuck in their primes. Randy making a comeback to win the HW title.

    PRIDE
    - The era of Fedor, Big Nog, and Crocop
    - The era of The Axe Murderer was born.
    - The Gracie Hunter makes his name known.
    - Rampage’s signature slam on Ricardo Arona

    K1
    - BJ Penn moves up multiple weight classes to fight tough competition
    - Brock Lesnar’s debut
    - Genki Sudo’s entertaining entrances (and also in the UFC)
    - Melvin Manhoef obliterating his opponents

Strikeforce is a split between late 2000’s and 2010’s. Cesar Gracie’s camp and AKA put that organization on the map.

    Affliction
    - Fedor’s 30 second finish against Tim Sylvia

    Other notable orgs:
    - EliteXC
    - Bodog
    - DREAM

Yea basically, that's why people refer to it as the golden era of mma where pride ruled.

    By far.

The novelty of mma was new for most of us, multiple strong orgs that each had their own feel, TUF was new, still lots of “styles-make-fights" type of fights, fighters with aura of invincibility like Fedor/Anderson, Condom Depot, Tapout shirts everywhere, Mike Goldberg commentary, etc.

    Yes. Pride FC MMA.

Also, you left off WEC...one of the best organizations.

i was there live at the LA Colisseum for Brock’s debut..that was a nice fight card and I was there mostly to watch Sakuraba vs Gracie. Very shocked that Manhoef got armbarred. That was also JZ’s, Gesias Calvacante’s rise in the LW division. Man, he had potential.

    Of course.

But top to bottom fighters in the top org(s) are better today.

Like mentioned above, WEC was a part of that decade and Bellator was founded in that decade as well.

2010’s was a great era as well but not as good as 2000’s.

I don't know. I think the fact that I can easily access all of those fights including all of the fights that I can now makes this the best time to be a fight fan. Some of you guys get caught up in brands and nostalgia and don't enjoy what's going on in the moment. You know how hard it was to find the rizzo and barnett fight back in the day. That shit took years to find.

Yes. Is it amplified by nostaligia? Yeah. Back then i was younger and got together with friends to watch fights everytime there was a ppv on saturday night. Life was easy.

No. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug and people have a hard time quitting it.
