This happens to fighters. Especially long-time champs. They start to fight not to lose rather than taking chances like they did earlier in their careers. Whether it's boredom or the Jackson system or fighters catching up or what, it happens to them all eventually. Nobody can defeat time.

Greg Jackson is what happened, he plays it safe. Jones lost that fight and I can't stand him. a random guy with 12 fights clearly out struck him and stuffed all his takedowns. I know Jon has the greatest resume ever, but without the gas he's slowed down ALOT.
His weakness in his striking and wrestling have become more clear. His cardio is still there, and won those later rounds, but he's not as dominate as he was 5 years ago

Fedor lost to Werdum, Silva, and DAN HENDERSON( A 40 year old middleweight). The tallest good fighter Fedor beat was Frank Mir. Jon Jones beat a 6'5 Swedish tower. Fedor is like 1-5 against tall fighters

He had a couple of fights since then where he showed flashes of brilliance

Last exciting striking performance was the master class of infighting against Glover. That Jon is long gone. Now he just keeps his distance, throws pot shots, knee kicks, and literally runs away from exchanges.
