Ppl always call one of the GOAT in WMMA but it seem for me she only had a good run because she got in there when the girls was just getting to the UFC (same as Rousey) so she got to face a bunch of soccer moms.

But when she got to face the big dogs, she dropped the ball.

She was beat twice by Rose (1 by KO), twice by Weili (1 by KO), she was beat by Valentina like 5 times (MT and MMA combined).

She was always going to desicion, barely got a couple of finishes.

I mean she was good but she was not one of the GWOAT at all imo

5 title defenses is no joke, that record has not been equaled in the strawweight division. in fact i dont think a single champ has defended the belt more than once since Joanna lost it. who cares about decisions or finishes when you WIN? WINNING is the name of the game here.

its a folly to call Joanna overrated when WMMA was still growing out of its nascent stages. just as it would be folly to call Royce or Coleman overrated since their skills seem more rudimentary now. Joanna is top 10 WMMA all time, at the very least.

Not GOAT material but not overrated at all. Everyone is worshipping the ground Weilli walks on these days but Joanna gave her a tough fight and showed how sloppy she was at the time (first fight). And 5 title defenses is no joke. Her only losses are Rose, Valentina, and Weilli. That's very respectable losses.

Wasn't Zhang vs Joanna 1 and Rose vs Joanna 2 controversial?

I rank her over Rose as Rose got beat by Esparza and Andrade while Joanna absolutely decimated them. I think Rose loses to prime Gadelha too.

I guess the GOAT of the division comes down to Zhang vs Joanna and at that point Joanna does have more wins. Arguments can be made for both.





GOAT WMMA fighter? Nunes without a doubt. I don't even like her but it's undeniable.

Joanna was very good, probably one of my favorites at the time, she had a fun style and her war with Zhang is the goat WMMA fight, very back and forth, Rose had her number, but only has 1 defense, it has been hot potato since Joanna lost to Rose twice, I would say Joanna is the 4th best WMMA fighter ever
