Sure looked like it. I never thought I would see a female out shine the men in terms of striking on a UFC card. That is true world class striking. If I had to pick 1 fighter from the card to teach me kickboxing, it would be her.

I will support the womens SW division as long as shes champ. What a fighter.

Yes. She was the best striker on the card. She has a legit background in striking at the highest level so it shouldn't shock too many people.
 
Can't really argue with pettis. Sure, he didn't look great on the night, but hes as good as they come.
JJ vs Jojo would be good at some point
 
Spoiler: fighting someone with 0 striking who is 4 inches shorter than yourself will probably put a flattering light on your striking abilities.
 
Don't do that. Joanna is the shit and all (she had me clapping and yelling) but no woman can match yet the level of a man of elite striking and probably would never do. Duffy, Overeem and RDA looked amazing in that department and against other decent strikers, don't u think? Carla was pathetic.
 
relative to the person she was fighting, absolutely.
 
Yes she was. Overeem and Joanna have the credentials, but Overeem seem to have changed his style too much and has many holes to exploit. Joanna > Overeem striking skills. Overeems Knee's are still the shit tho.

She's definitely up there, but we need to see her up against someone who can test her in the standup. Calderwood would be great, or Angela Hill if she works her way up.

Germaine De Randamie looked awesome too, though that's to be expected against almost anyone who decides to exclusively stand with her.

I think it comes down to the fact her technique and timing were impeccable.
 
tbf she was fighting someone who did nothing but spam shitty double legs, it was like hitting a punching bag

RDA and hendricks had to strike while getting hit by pettis and matt brown

Pettis is still the best striker in the UFC, imho.

Pettis has great kicks but can't do shit if the other guy doesn't respect him and gives him no space. RDA did that he pressured Pettis, and Pettis tried to fight in the pocket but looked like crap.

Overeem vs Nelson was good but Nelson is incredibly 1 dimentional.

Duffy fought a nobody.

People just can't wrap their heads around it because she's a woman.

Pettis isn't the best striker in the UFC. I think Aldo is, way more versatile at all ranges, can lead, counter, pressure or be elusive. GReat footwork and headmovement (something which Pettis lacks). Great boxing and low kicks, with some knees, teeps and spinning shit mixed in
 
She's a very good striker for sure but Carla's stand up game is horrible, coupled with the fact she decided to circle towards Joanna's power hand for the whole fight; expert game planning.

wtf? You can't discredit other fighters based on opposition in this case. Carla Esparza is hardly holly holm.

Overeem doesnt know the meaning of a jab to taken seriously in terms of striking. He won K1 because of his size and a lot of luck.
