Conor obviously is used to putting ppl down with his strikes, especially the boxing. Thats his realm, that where he feels is the king.

I am not sure he got as physically tired as he lost his confidence the moment he realized he's in those deep waters. I mean Diaz took all his best shots repetatively and came back stronger after each exchange. It must have messed with McG's confidence to not be able to even rock/stun Nate. Dont know if this is the case but I kinda felt like he did not leave it all out there heart-wise cause he clearly had the technique to hang with Nate on the feet as long as he would keep his distance and retain his movement. And fair enough his demiss came when somewhere in the second round when he started moving less, standing in front of Nate flatfooted and such.

I mean ok, he obviously thought he'd put away Diaz easier but I expected he'd adjust better when he saw this wont be the case. I definitely imagined he was stronger in this respect. So kinda disappointing but still it was a great fight, props to both guys I guess.

Plus lol at all ppl I argued with the whole last week who were saying Diaz was not a serious challenge and that he for sure was easier match up than Donald. Good luck with that

Conor broke mentally

He got cracked solid in those last few exchanges, went for a desperation take down and got subbed. That's what happened. He looked pretty confident all the way until he got wobbled and then wobbled again in those last couple min / exchanges. It wasn't confidence, cardio, etc, he simply got nailed then finished by the better fighter in my opinion.

He had a gameplan until he got punched in the face. I don't think Frankie can take those uppercuts tho, conor is still a legit champ.

Yes, he got lit up with a solid 1-2 but whats the reason behind him becoming flatfooted, standing in front of Nate at the distance of the latter is what I wonder? That happened around the second minute of the 2nd round. Why would he gas? He landed the more solid shots, he was the one with the full camp, good shape etc. Why would he accept Nate's game and not stick and move.

Dont think he was physically unprepared, simply believe he was not expecting such a tough opponent in Nate and when he hit that wall he started having second thoughts and did not want to be in there any more.

I hate to burst your bubble but Nate is an easier match up than RDA. RDA would have destroyed Conor's lead leg, has legit KO power in his hands, and is a class above Nate in bjj.

True, Aldo couldnt either.

If Conor had gameplan he wouldnt stand in fornt of Nate in the second. He'd be sticking and moving a lot more. Standing flatfooted and trading with a Diaz is one of the dumbest things you can do in MMA

The only reason anyone has brought up gassing is because Conor did. No, he got lit up, badly hurt and submitted.

he totally gassed I can;t believe people are even debating this...1st round he was getting the better of Nate and busting him up....he blew his wad doing that and that is the last thing you want to do with a Diaz...same time Nate weathered the storm came alive and hit him with a few good shots...Conor did not have the ENERGY to respond or counter..and YES he got rocked at that same time.....so.... no energy and getting rocked = desperate take down = the end

Its a different match up. I was talking about the Cowboy vs Diaz debate. RDA poses different trouble than Diaz because he would take it to the math easier. Plus he's alot more athletic and strong, would ragdoll McG on the mat. That said he probably wouldnt be bale to take half the shots Nate ate that night.

Diaz hurt him, Conor tried to laugh it off, but sometimes it doesn't matter how confident you are, reality wins out in the end.

He was "stuck in the mud." By the end he thought it was Ido standing across from him with a pool noodle.

Good point, he was stuck in the mud. Michael Johnson looked a lot better with hios movement against full camp Nate. He knew better not to stand and trade. Ironically Conor could have done better if he had better movement in the second. As soon as he stopped moving Nate landed a couple 1-2 combos and thats that

Cowboy's lack of head movement would play nicely into Conor's gameplan plus Cowboy is a slow starter. Completely different match up.

Probably both. He said himself that he got rocked and then he panicked. Doesn't get any more direct than that...

Stockton Slaps took Conor's soul

Clearly, Nate is in league with Lucifer. That was some Shang Tsung Mortal Kombat soul-stealing shit, dawg. If you mess with a gazelle, you get the horns.
