The UFC never backs down. Example - Cagepotato.com's ban after releasing Arianny's Playboy photos. http://www.cagepotato.com/cagepotat...fan-expo-online-rebellion-to-begin-next-week/
But in this case the UFC did back down. And quickly. And they never mention Ariel's name, only direct talk to SB Nation Brass. http://www.ufc.com/news/UFC-Statement-June-6

If you look at Alexa Internet ranking for most viewed (aka hits) MMA websites, SB Nation has 3 in the top 10; Mmafighting.com, Mmamania.com and BloodyElbow.com are all owned by SB Nation.

*(world rank, us rank)

1. Ufc.com (5921, us 3337)
2. Mmafighting.com (5961, us 3036)
3. Sherdog.com (6260, us 2814)
4. Bloodyelbow.com (10745, us 4010)
5. Mmajunkie.com (10051, us 3524)
6. Espn.go.com/mma/ (120, us 26. N/A for /mma)
7. Mmamania.com (13806, us 5998)
8. Foxsports.com/ufc (1498, us 528 N/A for /ufc)
9. Mixedmartialarts.com (23456, us 7515)
10. Mmaweekly.com (44270, us 13112)

Yanking Ariel was probably a knee jerk reaction by Dana, despite what Dana said. Lorenzo saw the repercussions and put him in his place, then rectified the situation.

Lol@ those UFC shills

Dana and the UFC were getting shitted on by everyone from CNN to ESPN. They were getting shitted on by most sports journalists.

They didn't need a phone call, they were getting shitted on by legitimately everyone besides a couple world class idiots on Sherdog. Public pressure is why they reversed the decision.

Maybe it was because mainstream media called them out on it. I'm guessing people at Fox saw all that and made a little phone call.

They got called out by everyone even mention on fox sports 1 with the anchors saying bad move. Stupid zuffa acted before thinking.

They got shit on by everyone and all they care about is appearances (hence fucking over Ariel in the first place)

Once the mainstream media got involved it had to be coming

He was saved by the you know whos.

I look at many MMA websites daily, but never UFC.com.

They might have got scared by all the negativity ariel was gonna reign down on them going on all the shows?

Ariel saved himself by being A FUCKING BOSS.

He Scorched Earth this MOTHERFUCKER all day on Monday, he never backed down, he never gave up, he was everywhere. He's a 3rd party non affiliated reporter and he is TRENDING above UFC, UFC 200, Brock Lesnar.

While it's true Ariel has the support of SB Nation, Ariel didn't back down and tuck his tail between his legs.

He choke slammed the UFC into submission, he played the Social Media game like a Chess Grandmaster. While the UFC Twitter team fumbles around playing tic tac toe and figuring out WTF does hashtag mean?

He got saved because of all of the negative attention that the story got from mainstream news outlets.

Zuffa got embarrassed. End of story.

If you listen to today's MMA Hour, Ariel listed numerous instances of them messing with him. It was a pattern of knee jerk reactions.

He was saved by mainstream media outlets and figures(along with fans) actively taking his side. If it was just the fans and MMAfighting, UFC wouldn't have cared and would have loved to take it to MMAfighting...but they had the beautiful people in their eyes(mainstream sports media) calling them a joke for the inability to handle even the most basic things that come with the territory of being not even a mainstream sports league, but a covered sports league.

I suspect a combination of things.

1. They didn't expect Ariel to literally pour out his heart like he did. The UFC likely realized Ariel had some dirt but was pulling some punches.

2. The UFC was beginning to look like an international joke to pretty much every reporter or news organization. That would have cost them considerably in the future.
