I haven't heard a guy talk really good trash in a while. Floyd's stuff is pretty weak, Thurman tries but it's awful. Mexican's could be, I don't know; but fast-paced Spanish always sounds intense.

I remember a clip of James Toney sparring, and afterward his partner comes over to shake his hand and Toney says (paraphrasing) "alright, now get out of here. I don't wanna have to beat a man to death today." Then he looks out across the gym and yells "See him? I'll do that to all y'all[...] This is my world, y'all motherfuckers just livin in it". I always thought that was a good line.

Floyd tried hard but floyd is really just a scared little man like tyson put it. His 0 was doing the talking. If his brain was a dynamite he wouldn't blow his ears off. He just sounds like an airhead.

James Toney was special. Prime toney was a savage in every sense.

not really, no, it worked for him just like it worked for the many many fighters who've done it since ali. the public is pretty gullible, you'd think they'd start tuning out that kind of shit but they never do. As far as good trash talkers, many were far superior to floyd, roy jones, camacho, pazienza, haugen, whitaker, tyson, toney, most of those guys could put you in stitches with their low brow humor. Floyd? Naw, not at all.

the hbo interview prefight with jones was great, both men. Jones saying the huckleberry thing from Tombstone. Roy was pretty damned good i tell ya, remember when he told Hopkins that he needed english lessons? that's pretty fucking cold. the good shitalkers are so funny that you can't really even come back with a response on how it was immoral for them to say that because you're laughing too fucking hard and you'd look like a hypocrite.

Overrated. Most of Floyd's opponents weren't the trash talking type so they never threw back. If Floyd ever faced a good trash talker he would have gotten embarrassed. Plenty of dirt on him.

black folk have always been the best though, always. Katt Williams has some stuff on youtube where he is challenging steve harvey and the shit just sounds so cool and so crazy and so smooth and I recognize it from all the black men i grew up around, it's something that goes way back, just talking shit, posturing, posing, being loud. Funny thing is, Ali was usually quiet away from cameras, he picked up all that shit from his crazy ass dad who bragged about how great his art was and how he was kept down by the white man, a fast talking ladies man with a penchant for physical and alcohol abuse which once led to a fight with Ali's mother with the young clay intervening and getting stabbed in the thigh. I tell you, i've known so many of those, and they were fucking characters, especially with a little liquor in them, comedians all.

ya, most of his opponents couldn't even speak fluent english and the ones that did just weren't talkers. Oscar Delahoya looked ridiculous even trying to sound street. For all oscars faults, he, like Leonard just never seemed to be able to go ghetto.

dont think floyd was a good shit talker but i think he really pissed his opponents off just by continuously saying stuff that had to do with one thing: i'm going to win and you're going to lose. really, what are they gonna do to floyd in the ring? lol

Floyd's trash talk before the Gatti fight was alright. The rest of it was pretty shitty, but it seemed to still get people riled up just fine.

his shit talk was plain dull, it all boiled down to "i'm making this much money and you're not" money money money. Anyone that puts that much on anything external has no real self-esteem.

Nope...it wasn't very clever, creative or humorous.

Some.of.his comments regarding manny Pac were not only racist, but completely ignorant. Especially if you tempura is a Filipino dish.

That being said, he played the villain role very well
