Usually Donald is the one who likes to be cordial with his opponent. He talked about the rumor that if he touches gloves with his opponent he performs better and told Conor to give him a hug before the fight.

But Conor did the exact same thing to Donald. Was he reversing the situation by being ultra nice to Cowboy? This is mind games at its finest. Conor truly is a master.

Dark Conor was the appropriate approach for his fight against Khabib, and smother him with love was the approach for Donald. Of course, he lost to Khabib but that's beside the point.

Did Conor disarm Donald by smothering him with love and being nice to him in the lead up to the fight? Did he pull a Donald, on Donald? A Cerrone, on Cerrone?

No. He didn't talk shit because 1) he would look like an absolute tool if he talked shit to Cerrone who is almost always pretty amicable, 2) he hadn't won a fight in 3 years, and 3) he was dealing with rape allegations and the consequences of a bunch of stupid shit he's done.

It had nothing to do with mind games, in fact, this is one of the main reasons Dana chose Cerrone in the first place, because Cerrone's a company man who won't bring any of that stuff up.

I'm curious too. I started to wonder that during the press conference. It's liek a kill 'em with kindness mentality. Especially considering Cerrone is a slow started. Now he's a slow starting fighter that isn't as emotionally invested as he was against say Jeremy Stephens.
